FAQs about hotels in Athens

Dynamic City With 3400 Years of History

With the Acropolis as the jewel in the archaeological crown of Athens, this city is full of history while embracing the future. Take a stroll back in time through the neoclassical streets of the Plaka, where you'll find tavernas serving tantalizing souvlaki and mousaka, street vendors and live entertainment.

A trip to the Parthenon and the Agora top most lists and can also be appreciated from a distance by walking along the Dionysiou Aeropagitou street, which is away from the busy crowds of the city center.

The changing of the guard occurs every hour on the famous Syntagma Square. From here, Ermou Street provides shopaholics with a fashionable retail sanctuary. The upscale districts Kolonaki and Kifisia are also bursting with fancy boutiques, galleries and bars.

Athens has some of the finest museums in the world, such as the National Archaeological, Acropolis and Benaki Museums. From Athens International Airport to the Port of Piraeus, this is a city bustling with the old and new. On Booking.com you can find everything from modern hotels to a room in a classical building.

Athens is an amazing place and full of ancient things to visit. Most places are within walking distance, if you are staying in the central area of the city. Lots of well-priced tours are available. We used the HopOnHopOff bus and this was great. As well, we used HopOnHopOff bus to take a tour to Cape Sounion to view the Temple of Poseidon and to view the beautiful sunset there. This was a highlight of the trip. We also visited the Acropolis and the Acropolis museum, Lycabettus and many churches and squares. We enjoyed the Plaka, too. The Greek food is excellent. Most Greeks speak English so this should help the English-speakers.

We stayed in Pisiri for 2 days, one night at the beginning of our trip. We stayed in Plaka for 3 days, 3 nights at the end of our trip. It was a perfect amount of time to break up the city. One of the days we took an all day boat trip, that really helped to keep things interesting and get back into nature. I already live in a major city. I usually travel for nature, but being able to see some history, go to an island, the back to history/food culture, boat day, and finish with more history was a pretty perfect trip!

Athens is actually a compact city for the places to visit.

Athens is actually a compact city for the places to visit. It is walkable - though if you need transport this is also easy and accessible. The people are very helpful and friendly and everyone speaks English - which makes things easy. The city has many different vibes and pockets of interest for all types of visitor. Tourist prices have risen a lot and it can be expensive to eat out. It is a busy and vibrant place and with planning you can see most things in 4 or 5 days. The small island of Agistri is worth a visit and is only an hour on the faster ferry. Athens is a must visit destination in Europe.

Athens in August is ideal for tourists who love water-based relaxation, as the weather is often hot. Still, you can explore the city’s historical treasures. Plus, the urban beaches are clean and not overcrowded, offering a great balance for visitors.

We loved the history, culture, shopping and restaurants!

We loved the history, culture, shopping and restaurants! The Hop-on, Hop-off Bus system and the Metro were both easy to navigate and made the city sites easy to access. People were warm and welcoming. We would definitely come back again. The only downfall that we saw: We were sad to see all the graffiti on so many buildings. It was heartbreaking to see it covering some of the marble on beautiful old architectural buildings.

Perfect location. Walking distance to all popular attractions in Athens. Monastaraki square, Plaka district, Ermou Street, Syntagma square... All very close. It is very close to the metro and bus to reach the airport very easily. The attention and communication of the staff is excellent. They have an excellent employee named Chryssa. The room is very large and spacious. It is very clean and has everything you need. Modern and perfectly decorated. We stayed in the comfort of a five-star hotel.

The accommodation is very clean and new. It was set up and cleaned like a hotel. I felt im staying in a lux place. The linens and sheets so fresh. Danai was so organised, she has instructed everything so well. The place can accommodate 5 people. Train station just few meters away, Restaurants so near just 6mins walk. Greece so hot so I would recommend this place they have 3 aircondition. 2 clean bath and toilets. One of my best accommodation so far. Thank you so much.

We were recommended this hotel by friends in New Zealand. It was very centrally located making getting around very easy. We caught the metro from the airport into Syntagma Square and it was a short walk from there. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent - a great way to start the day. We stayed three nights; two days at the start of our visit to Greece and one night at the end. I would stay here again without hesitation.
