Relatively expensive compared to other accommodation booked...
Relatively expensive compared to other accommodation booked for our 12 day trip. Hotel felt a bit tired and dated. No hairdryer in room and ironing board provided was faulty. Bed was ok but moved too easily if pressed onto. Restaurant was full when we arrived at 7pm, so ate in the bar. Food was ok, but nothing to write home about and adequate selection. Would select another option for a future trip.

Wonderful views.
Wonderful views. Fishing boats moving across the water very restful. Bus near station only a few minutes away from Bothy, takes an hour to Portree on Skye. Train to Plockton 19 minutes. Wish we had had time for the boat trip from Kyle harbour. Hector's Bothy cafe often bustling, Pizza Mia freshly made carry outs good (haggis and red onion topping), Cafe opposite traffic lights friendly and welcoming. Very well stocked Co-op. Train journey to Kyle glorious, but a car might be better for exploring (good parking next to flat.)

Fabulous location, lovely room.
Fabulous location, lovely room. Evening bar and restaurant excellent.
Evening staff excellent
Breakfast - not good for the price of hotel, stern unhelpful staff member. Had to ask for water in the tea urn, wouldn’t serve hot porridge and then the hot breakfast later. ( you could only have it all served together) so you choose which went cold, your porridge or your cooked breakfast.

We would have stayed longer had we known about it and used it as a base for Skye as the hotel we headed to was extremely expensive and compared to this hotel and the staff here we knew we were getting ripped off. Balmacara is lovely and we would go back in a heartbeat.

Rooms were functional and compact.
Rooms were functional and compact. Over priced for what you get. Although, location was good for visit to Skye.
Breakfast was an additional £15, we opted out and went to a cafe just minutes from the hotel, had a lovely breakfast for a fraction of the price.

The house was a great location for visiting Skye.
The house was a great location for visiting Skye. We didn't actually explore much of Kyle of Lochalsh. Didn't seem too many option for eating out at night, but that didn't matter to us as we cooked or were out on Skye. Big supermarket in Kyle of Lochash and a couple of takeaway options.

The hotel (now guest house) is really a very lovely place to stay. You could say it is now a bit dated, but I would say in a very comfortable and relaxing way. The room I had was a great size and a very bright and enjoyable place to relax after a long day on a motorbike. There’s limited facilities in the area but you can get a stone baked pizza as well as other takeaways near by. There’s also a decent sized coop next door to stock up.
The property was just what we wanted. Self catering, clean up to date and comfortable. However it was more than that. We felt like we were home. A lot of effort was put into making the property well presentable to guests. I love the little things like a pantry with extra stuff like salt and pepper sugar coffee and a lot more. Having a bottle of wine and milk was also quite thoughtful.
This is a lovely place to stay! I highly recommend staying in this place if you are planning to visit the Isle of Skye and surrounding places by driving yourself. Living above a pub is an amazing feeling, you can always get a drink. the hotel is a bit hard to find. The hotel is actually a part of "Islander Bar". Your bartender is your reception. The breakfast is amazingly good also!
Craig Cottage is a quaint and cozy lodging set on a hill above Kyle of Lochalsh. The the home is fully equipped and the garden is absolutely lovely. Craig cottage is a great launching point for endless hikes on the Isle of Skye, a viisit to Eilean Donan Castle, or any other Highland adventure.
Our hosts were exceptionally gracious and helpful in every way. Highly recommend.
The hotel was just off the main road from Kyle of Lochalsh north but it was a quiet location with great views from our room which looked over the gardens at the front of the hotel. The bedroom was modern and spotlessly clean. The owner was welcoming and helpful. There was a lovely lounge with big comfy settees.
Everything was amazing.
Sheila helped us plan the days out to make the most of them. She was extremely knowledgeable about the area. The food was amazing! The bed was the best we had our whole trip. She is very welcoming and I cannot wait to stay again on my next trip to Scotland.
The location was quiet & had a rural feeling, yet was within easy walking distance of the facilities in Kyle of Lochalsh. Superb view from the lounge over to Skye. Breakfast was excellent and as stated by the hosts, both of whom were friendly and convivial. Would certainly go back.
Fabulous and private location on the step of great walks. Kitchen was well stocked for self catering. the hosts were communicative in advance with directions and there was an excellent guide book for the house and local area. Very clean.
Really nice b&b with a beautiful little garden. Great breakfast. Shelagh makes you feel right at home! Hospitality could not have been any better. Kyle of Lochalsh is a cosy little place, close enough to the Isle of Skye.
Staff were really awesome and helped us out of a tricky situation, letting us stay and accommodating us in one of their rooms very quickly even though their systems were down after being scammed by another hotel.
Like a suite in a very classy hotel. Lots of thoughtful extras like tea bags , coffee, sugar, biscuits, toiletries. Helpful landlord about entry and vacating times to suit trains. Great views.
The hotel was clean and tidy and in a good location for exploring the Isle of skye and wester ross which has some fantastic scenery,te hotel staff are very friendly and welcoming.
Old fashioned hotel, but in a nice way. Room was full of quality old furniture and features. Hotel right on the water, so good views.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Perfect stay. Wonderful staff and perfect location on the lake. Room had the best view. Location of the hotel is very convenient. Quality food in the restaurant.
