This hotel is in an excellent location for a vacation in the Scottish borders, right on the main road of Melrose. The staff was excellent. They were very nice and helpful. The dinner and breakfast were delicious and in a peaceful environment. Highly recommend.

Great location, and adorable! The hosts were quick to respond when needed. There is street parking out front which was quite convenient. We walked over the chain bridge into Melrose (coffee, pubs, Melrose Abbey, groceries) which was lovely. There was coffee, tea and milk at the flat which was a nice touch & the view out to the garden so beautiful. We were also pleasantly surprised to find hair dryers with diffuser attachments! Everything was comfortable and clean, 10/10.

Our warm, hospitable hosts made us feel welcome and at home. Our room and the house were spotless, comfortable, and beautifully furnished. The expansive garden and the sweeping views from the house were gorgeous. Great breakfast, and the fire in the hearth every evening and morning was cozy. Loved our time there and hope to return. Highly recommend!

    A lovely little village in the Borders area with good eating...

    A lovely little village in the Borders area with good eating options and lots of interesting sights in the area including Melrose Abbey, the Eildon Hills, Wallace Monument, Dryburgh Abbey and a great bookshop and cafe in nearby St Boswell. Burt's Inn does a great afternoon tea and an even better dinner. The locals were friendly and helpful as well. It was easy to navigate the area by car.

    The best Scotch pie I've ever tasted from the Martin Baird's butcher's. Friendly folk around the town , I had a nice walk to the chain bridge over the river. Worth watching the rugby ( at the foot of the High St, I watched the evening training, pretty full on. Beautiful gardens, and the Abbey to see. There is an interesting looking Roman museum - The Trimontium Museum which I didn't have time to visit unfortunately, next time !. Good to see a cyclist's tool post by the market square as well, the chain breaker is missing an essential part though - link pin removal screw. There is also a post at Tweed Bank station nearby. There doesn't seem to be a visible taxi service in town, the nearest is Galashiels ? There is a bus from Tweedbank railway station into Melrose, which also goes to Galashiels Transport hub in the opposite direction, where you can get onwards buses to other border towns, e.g. Hawick.

    i was visiting Melrose for the first time and unfortunately...

    i was visiting Melrose for the first time and unfortunately only had a couple of days there, very nice wee border town, easy to get around, there are a lot of historical places to visit like Melrose Abbey, the Wallace monument , site of the Trintonium Roman fortress, also some nice walks around the Eildon hills. plenty of hotels, restaurants, cafe`s to choose from . I will definately visit again on my next visit to my home country

    Excellent choice of cafes, restaurants and pubs. Historic Abbey centrally located and the Trimontium Roman museum is an excellent experience. Highly recommend the Italian restaurant, Monte Cassino. Plenty of short term parking on the High Street with some reasonably priced Pay and Display car parks too.

    Melrose is a small market town that seems to serve quite a few places around so there's a nice bustle about the place. There's a variety of cafes and restaurants and some easy riverside and country walks in the area. The abbey and the small Trimontium Museum are both fascinating for anyone interested in Medieval or Roman history. I'd recommend Monte Cassino and Provender restaurants and the friendly people in the Baguette & Co. There's a great ice cream and chocolatier almost opposite the Abbey that's also worth a visit.

    We started and finished our walking holiday in Melrose. We had never visited before but we really liked this lovely town. We enjoyed exploring the area, it is very beautiful. We visited the Kings Arms, my husband was delighted there was real ale on sale and the food was great. The staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble. The ice cream shop near the Abbey was lovely too. I would certainly visit Melrose again. Very good for walking, not too busy with traffic.

    This is a lovely old fashioned hotel in a beautiful location. Not great for public transport. Really nice function rooms with a view of the river. Plenty of parking and very quiet. Our room was large and very comfortable. Very relaxing place to stay. Nice breakfast too. All the staff were friendly and helpful, especially in the bar.

    We were made to feel very welcome by the staff. The room was lovely, very comfortable with lots of hot water for showers and complimentary toiletries. We had a lovely evening meal in the hotel as well. Check in and out was smooth without any delays and the hotel is in a fantastic position in Melrose.
