Wild Thyme & Honey, hotel in Cirencester

Featuring a terrace, bar and views of river, Wild Thyme & Honey is located in Cirencester, 7.3 miles from Cotswold Water Park.

The location and property is very picturesque and tranquil. They really put a lot of detail and thought into the property from putting out fresh milk by your door in the morning to having a communal pantry with extra things you may need during your stay. The restaurant is fantastic and the included breakfast is an amazing value. You get a full breakfast menu with many gourmet options plus a continental buffet with fresh pastries, fruit, juices and yogurt. The location is very central and a great option if you are interested in touring around the cotswolds villages. The front desk is very accommodating, we were able to check in early and they also arranged taxis for us during our stay. We would definitely stay here again.

Lovely old town with plenty of shops, particularly individual, local shops. Good place to walk around and plenty of eating places and coffee shops to take a break. Great history around the town from Roman times. Unfortunately we didn't have time to investigate all the places of interest. A particular place to mention was Sudeley Castle which was an absolute gem.

Cirencester is compact and easily navigable. Many of the streets are narrow and quaint with beautiful buildings. The Abbey and the Abbey Gardens are stunning. The market place was interesting and had a good variety of stalls

Cirencester has almost everything a visitor would want from a market town including a Saturday food and produce outside market and a arts and crafts indoor market. This is alongside many high street chain shops as well as small independent shops. There are many restaurants, wine bars and pubs as well to choose from covering all sorts if tastes and preferences.

There is an interesting mix of shops, arts arts and crafts, parkland, cafes and historical sites. The church is beautiful inside and is worth a revisit to take it all in. The historical buildings from different centuries side by side give it character and is a surprise each time you walk through an alley or turn a corner. The food sold on the farmers market is a good quality and mix and the craft market is also high quality. We will be revisitng.

The market square, overlooked by St John's church - 'the cathedral of the Cotswolds' is very beautiful. The church is staggering - very large and ornate - an architectural jewel. Parking in town was easy enough (April, Easter holidays). The market outside the church (we were there on a Friday morning) was small but all of the stalls were interesting, with very high-quality fish, vegetables and bakery. We ate well at our hotel, the Stratton House just out of town on the Gloucester Road.

A very friendly welcome from our hosts Anne and David who couldn't do enough to make our stay comfortable. Our room had the benefit of it's own entrance away from the Pub. Whilst quite small it was very nicely furnished, the bed was comfortable and the facilities all that you would expect. We had an excellent freshly cooked breakfast on the second morning. The Inn is situated just a short walk from the town centre which is a perfect place to sample the Cotswold experience. All in all a lovely place to stay. Thank You.

Large, clean first floor hotel room with bathtub directly in main Queen room. Excellent food/menu/pub restaurant. Pizza/pasta specialties. Book your table early as it gets very busy (We went on a Tue evening & it was fully booked up). Take out available. Beautiful pub/restaurant interior and exterior patio area. Large open fireplace near dining tables. Dogs permitted in hotel rooms/restaurant. Attentive staff who fixed a room plumbing issue while we attended dinner. Very impressed.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful, what a great team. After we checked in we enjoyed dinner in the pub and had had an amazing Beef Wellington. If this is your favourite, you will not be disappointed. The following day it was a brief walk to the spa hotel for a delightful breakfast in the dining area over looking the gardens. The menu offered a wide selection of breakfast choices, we was spoilt for choice. A lovely place to stay.

The hotel staff are excellent, very professional and friendly. Car parking is very good and the hotel location is ideal being a short walk to the town centre and in a very quiet spot. Breakfast was superb, freshly cooked with lots of choice. We also had an evening meal which was equally lovely. Our room was a compact double on the top floor which was clean and comfortable and had tea and coffee making facilities.

We love this hotel! We have been there with our kids & Labrador and I have just come back from a fab girls weekend away there! It’s big, lots of facilities, lovely breakfast, friendly reception staff, lovely rooms…especially the ones overlooking the Lake. Marie (Maria!), one of the Managers was absolutely exceptional. She makes you feel like it is a top 5 star hotel!

I would not usually choose to stay at an expensive hotel but for a special occasion this hotel is good value for money. It is quietly understated welcoming, and cosy with excellent staff who go out of their way to make your stay the best ... special mention for Andy the gardiner who told us all about his chickens.

Unfortunately there was an issue with the chef not turning up so we were just offered toast or cereals which was disappointing as previous reviews had praised the breakfast however this was out of control of the hotel and they promptly refunded the cost of our breakfasts.
