Beautiful location. Loved being able to walk around and explore the venue. The work carried out on the property and garden was fantastic and to a high standard. The room was very cosy and the bed was very comfortable with good quality bed linen. Loved seeing the peacock in the morning and being surrounded by nature.

Its is a very pleasant town with reasonable facilities but it is a great location to base yourself and explore the whole of the Solway Coast and the old Stewartry. Eating out options are limited especially if you are looking for dog friendly

Dalbeattie town did not really feature in our visit at all other than the provision of sandwiches and juice for picnic lunches.
We are keen on walking and exploring the countryside, forest walks, Caerlaverock nature reserve, Threave Gardens etc.

Lovely friendly scottish town.
Lovely friendly scottish town. With plenty of eating out options and take aways. Town wood walk and coniston park great for a stroll. For the more active we did the forest walk with fantastic views (would be suitable for pushchair)to Kippford (5.5miles) a lovely seaside village, recommended the Mariner pub for a refreshing drink and or lunch overlooking the sea. The Sun Inn/ Chinese restaurant was a good value evening with great playlist and fantastic food. Birchtree great relaxing bar with very good food.
The first floor apartment was roomy and beautifully decorated with a seaside theme matching the fantastic views from it's living room and bedroom windows. The patio and garden areas to the rear were great for sitting out. There were easy waterside walks to the front along a quiet access road and behind direct access to a woodland walk to Rockcliffe. Two hotels with bars and outdoor seating were just yards away. A bus stop to Dalbeattie was just outside although we used our car (parked to the front) and bikes (parked in the back garden!)
If you like wildlife, this is a very nice place. If you like history, this is a fascinating place. If you like both, then you should stop reading here and book the room at once. We stayed at Buittle Castle for only two days but we had a great time and would love to come again. Very obliging owners and staff. My wife has a preference for vegan products and they were able to accommodate our breakfast choices at short notice. The area has a very unique charm with its castle, ruins and Galloway "Belties" frolicking on the fields nearby.
Rural location, but within a couple of minutes drive to Dalbeattie. Clean, quiet, small but perfectly formed, everything we needed to be self-sufficient for a couple of nights. including a small fridge. Thoughtful extras such as cotton wool, tissues, cleanser, moisturiser, magazine. Welcome pack of food for breakfast - yoghurt, cereal, juice, bread, milk, fresh fruit and shortbread. Close to the lovely Solway Coast at Kippford. There was also a garden area to sit out in the sunshine with a glass of wine.
Lovely welcome from a delightful lady who worked tirelessly all evening and at breakfast to meet our needs. Good hot food for supper served promptly but not very happy with the only rather dark space in the bar available in which to eat it. There is a lovely dining room why is it no longer used for residents at the very least?Very good breakfast served by two lovely helpful ladies. Beautiful grounds but some real eye sores need sorting eg. dump opposite verandah seating area which used to be beautiful.
So quiet.... natural alarm clock with the farm Rooster!
Great views across the Solway near the access road and views across the Galloway hills.
Close to Kippford for exceptional food at The Anchor Hotel.
I was extremely fortunate with the weather with temperatures into the high 20's, the cottage remained nice and cool inside.
Really comfortable bed with the room having an en suite with a great shower.
Modern caravan, good and useful kitchen equipment. Spacious living area, dining area and main bedroom with lots of storage, for a couple of nights we didn’t really need it but good for a longer stay. Lovely decking area to sit out in the sun with a lovely view.
Michael made it very easy for us to check in/out, information sheet provided with comments on places to eat/takeaways very useful.
A very well-appointed lodge in a great location. Clean, comfortable and perfect for family or friend group. We had great fun with the giant TV. Ideal for dogs. Great walking nearby.(Kippford Reserve dog friendly) Kippford and its 2 dog friendly pubs are only a ten minute walk. Easy jump in car to Dalbeattie for groceries and Castle Douglas a lovely place to potter.
The area was lovely.
The hotel was brilliantly situated for both the beach and nearby towns.
The menu in the hotel was varied and good value for money.
The Full Scottish Breakfast was absolutely divine and the chef a delight to meet each morning.
Having pooch accepted in the bar made our stay even more enjoyable.
The location was next to the hotel which served nice food but you still had privacy. It was surrounded by woods which made it a lovely place to sit outside. The garden was quite wild but nice and full of birds. The location was good as a base for visiting the surrounding areas especially for walks.
A wonderful location, next to an old granite quarry, just outside of Dalbeattie, tastefully decorated with fabulous views from our room. Garden area was very private. Pat was very kind and even offered us fresh farm eggs on our way out.
The room was excellent with a really comfortable bed and good facilities. Cleanliness is is a high standard.
The breakfast is excellent and staff are pleasant and helpful. Overall this hotel gives excellent value for money.
The beautifully furnished and decorated rooms. Breakfast cooked fresh every morning. The house is located in an ideal spot for exploring the Solway coast and Dalbeattie is surrounded by the Forest.
A good choice on the menu for breakfast and evening meal all cooked well and nicely presented. Hotel in a pleasant situation, near to good walks and places of interest. We would stay again.
