I asked for a quite double bedroom and was initially assigned room 44 that faced the intersection of three main roads - not quite at all. I asked to move and after complaining about the noise and lack of sleep, on my first night was moved to room 31 - the staff member did her very best and was very polite and helpful arranging this transfer albeit to a room with single beds only. The location is this hotel only asset for this tired poorly run hotel - and there are other hotels in the same area that I would recommend way ahead of this one. I did not eat breakfast at the hotel has a smell throughout the hotel of burnt cooking oil that is ever unpleasant and not a good appetizer for their food.

Loved this place ... in such a great, peaceful location. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Food was excellent and breakfast was perfect. I couldn't fault anything (and I can be picky when it comes to noise and food) but I loved everything.

Spectacular landscape views, there are cute small walks accessible from the property. Delicious cocktails and the chef clearly puts in special effort, the food was excellent. The included breakfast on the balcony was delightful. She we had places to go, we would have loved to stay longer.

    Vibrant town of 2 halves. Practical part and posh part. Plenty of places to eat from kebab to the Ivy with everything in between. Fab kitchen shop, spa, bandstand, live music events etc. It's quite hilly, so book in the centre of town if slopes aren't your thing.

    Plenty of great restaurants if you prefer dining outside of your hotel. Would recommend The Mallows, Pecorino, Smith and Western and The Ivy. All provided great food, warm friendly service and good atmosphere.

    The people we encountered in and around Tunbridge Wells were...

    The people we encountered in and around Tunbridge Wells were without exception very pleasant and helpful, There are very interesting parts of Tunbridge Wells, especially Mount Ephraim are and it is convenient for a number of National Trust properties and other attractions including vineyards. The cherries are sensational !! Only downside was the volume of traffic which was constant on main roads.

    I love Tunbridge Wells.

    I love Tunbridge Wells. I was born in Pembury. it is a lovely little village with loads of facilities. Lovely parks and the Black Horse pub/restaurant is superb for food. Can't wait to return. Always a lovely clean town and village.

    We found two lovely places to eat, The Hand and Sceptre...

    We found two lovely places to eat, The Hand and Sceptre and The Barn in Tunbridge Wells. We were visiting gardens in the area, of which there are many fabulous ones. Didn't spend much time in the town. Sissinghurst ( National Trust) is absolutely stunning, a must see place.

    We would have like to be able to visit other local historic...

    We would have like to be able to visit other local historic sights such as Hever Castle, Sissinghurst but there was no facility anywhere to do this except by bus or taxi. I suggested that a service be set up by the council or local traders' association for a reasonable taxi (driven by a retired person) which could take visitors to Tunbridge Wells to sights such as Sissinghurst. We went by bus (one hour) and were told that the walk to the castle would be 15 minutes. It was a real trek and took us about an hour which meant that we had no time in the garden and had to take a very expensive taxi back to Tunbridge Wells. Sissinghurst was also not equipped to order a taxi for us. The Brasserie was an excellent choice for dinner and we had an excellent meal.

    Breakfast was good had smoked salmon. I also had the steak in the evening which was also good. Room was lovely they had upgraded me without being asked and had a lovely view out over the town. Room was extremely clean. I was going to stay at hotel du vin but the Royal Wells price meant I had breakfast and afforded evening meal for same price

    Highly recommended place to stay in Tunbridge wells, gorgeous setting hidden away in the Woodlands surrounded by stunning rocks gardens in the forest. Quirky decor in the spacious hotel rooms, the cove in the bar is a must. Breakfast was amazing too. Attentive staff and so polite.
