Major problem is the complete lack of free parking - very off putting and expensive. Everyone we met was pleasant, friendly and proud of their town. Parts are quite run-down but there are also some lovely older buildings. Lots of shopping and the harbour was full of units cooking different cuisine, few shops could have had more variety but interesting. We ate at The Mariner on the quay that evening, one of the nicest meals we’ve had & can recommend the filet steak, chef makes all his own deserts apparently, cheesecake was yummy and staff friendly and helpful.Guest review byLynneUnited Kingdom

Our room (8th floor) had a view to die for. Looking out across the Straits of Dover, with the ferries constantly on the horizon to remind those in Folkestone of what they used to have (the remains of the Harbour station which once saw dozens of ferries every day stands as a silent testimony in front of the hotel.
