Ray on reception was very welcoming and helpful. I'd had a difficult day and was struggling to find food. He recommended a great takeaway, helped me get it delivered and gave me a plate. He was excellent. Easy to park directly outside. Room was comfortable and warm with hanging space and drawers. Plenty of tea and coffee. Perfect for my one night stay. Wouldn't hesitate to return.

I went just at the start of the Easter break, and it was nice and quiet, I imagine it being a popular summer resort. Good facilities with plenty of eateries. Travelling around Southend was okay, gets busy during rush-hour. Great long walks along the esplanade and the pier. A lot of the shops were closed during close-season.

I lived in Southend for many years, this was a visit to see family and attend a family gathering. The town (I will never call it a city) is a shadow of its former self. I wouldn't go to Southend unless I had a specific reason, it just isn't as welcoming as it used to be and the high street is dead.
In the summer, short break with young children who want no more than the beach and this place would be ok. There are some decent restaurants but stay out of the town centre for those.

Going around visiting places. Eating out.
Going around visiting places. Eating out. Great taxi service. Hotel was not so good. Not disabled friendly. Fell in bathroom not built for anyone who is disabled.. Hurt myself quite bad. Screaming in agony. Apart from that. Will not be staying in this hotel again

Southend (bearing in mind our visit was in Winter!)
Southend (bearing in mind our visit was in Winter!) is actually really nice. We didn't expect much (we expected Morecambe, but got Southport!). There decent shops; the promenade was clean and open. We ate in The Last Post, but would certainly try other places when we visit again.
It is hard to give a fair representation of a town after a very brief visit, but it made a sufficiently good impression for us to want to see more, when the opportunity arises

A clean, comfortable, well-run hotel in an old building dating back to the dawn of Southend as a seaside resort in the 1790s with a view over the estuary and the pier. Our hostesses were friendly & helpful and you will get a decent breakfast. Comfy beds, too. It's about a 6-min walk to Southend Central station and 12 to Southend Victoria. And if you are at all interested in Anglo-Saxon history, you might want to visit the town museum to see the Prittlewell Prince burial finds.
Extremely helpful staff, beyond expectations, the lady who booked us in sorted out a car park payment app for me on my phone and helped me make the payment. I really don't think I could have done it myself.
Another lady showed us how to use the plastic cards that open the hotel entrance doors for late night entrance after the hotel had closed for the night, with exceptional patience and concern.
It is the staff that make any business a success. They succeeded with us.
Very nice estuary view, although the window is quite small. When we arrived around 9pm, I asked for the estuary view room and the receptionist upgraded it for free 🤩 that was nice. Old building, that gives the hotel a special charm… Spacious room and bathroom, a portable heater in the room on top of normal heating was very handy for those like me who is never warm enough 🤪 Comfy bed, clean everywhere! Friendly reception staff 😊
The location was very central to everything, a short stroll to the seafront and town centre and a short walk to the train station the other way and a lot of nice restaurants and bars. Parking facilities were good even though the car park is only small behind the hotel. The breakfast was good, really enjoyed it. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The room was small but had all the facilities we needed
Excellent location, close to all the great shops, cafés and restaurants in the Broadway, and only a 10min walk from the rail station. The seafront and Old Leigh are also very close by. The rooms are bright and full of light, the back yard is perfect for breakfast in the morning and to have off street parking in Leigh on Sea is a godsend! Honestly can't fault it and our 3 young adult children loved it too 😊
Large rooms, clean, and well maintained.
Great food, great service, exceptionally good breakfast.
Best location in Southend On Sea, perfect for a quiet couple weekend. The town doesn't have much to offer for adults, but the hotel makes up for it. The food is exceptionally good, and despite being a busy hotel you can still retreat to a very quiet room.
Highly recommended
Everything! The Hotel was fantastic: very clean, nice decor, exceptional location overlooking the Southend Pier and Amusement Park, but best of all was Debbie, the Manager. Fantastic, kind as could be, an excellent chef who prepared my complimentary full english breakfast for me daily.
The hotel was pleasant, though dated and in need of some TLC it is very convenient for the main attractions , seafront, restaurants and shops. The availability of water and fresh fruit in the lobby. The hotel is also within walking distance to both Southend train stations.
it’s location is super. gorgeous views out over the estuary. We were very lucky to get a parking space outside which was free! only free parking spaces on seafront in town are outside this property. lovely little cafe below gif breakfast and lunch was a bonus.
We were visiting relatives in leigh on sea. The property was central and within walking distance to Southend. Parking was available outside the hotel. We loved the breakfast. The lady was very obliging. The bed was very comfortable with clean sheets.
Great location, lovely host and very accommodating with our stay, have stayed here before. Room was very clean, nice and comfortable and cosy, milk, tea and coffee replenished daily. Would highly recommend this quaint place in Southend on Sea.
Everything, the staff are amazing and the property is superb value for money. Breakfast is one of the best I have ever had and I travel every week around the UK. This is one hotel I always rebook when in Southend on Sea.
For the price this hotel exceeded my expectations, the pictures don’t do this place justice. My stay at the Haven House Hotel gave me the full Southend on sea experience you can find beauty in the grittiness.
