The breakfast was delicious, especially the rye bread! I even asked the server where I could possibly purchase it. Location was perfect for walking to bars and restaurants.
Downtown Reykjavik is full of life, joy and culture, so it can be noisy at night. We recommend enjoying the live music at the bar downstairs, which will stop at 11 in the night.

We didn't see any of the sights we had planned to visit in Reykjavik. We had so many issues trying to get into the hotel. When we finally got access to a 'waiting room', we dared not to leave in case we couldn't get back in.
Shared the space with other "unsuspecting" travellers who had the same difficulties getting inside. This was not a good experience for senior travellers who are used to entering a hotel in normal fashion. Our friend travelling with us had mobility issues and was on a different floor and had to access her room using different sets of stairs to get to her room. We found out the night before that the hotel had changed to be self access.

We had a wonderful visit to Reykjavik, before our NCL Cruise. The city was beautiful, and we highly recommend staying at the Vintage Hotel! Staff was accommodating, and wonderful, allowing us to check in early, so we could enjoy our Reykjavik Food Walk. The food walk excursion was probably one of the best my wife and I have ever experienced. The Vintage Hotel is located across the street from a really nice breakfast restaurant, which we enjoyed both mornings. We will be back! Shopping and lots of tourist sites are all within walking distance of the Vintage. We also recommend the Godafoss Waterfalls and Hot Springs excursion.

I do not recommend Reykjavik to visit at all.
I do not recommend Reykjavik to visit at all. I visited at the beginning of June. It was extremely cold and windy, which made walking very difficult. I almost lost my scarf due to heavy winds. It even hailed!
There is not much to see or do unless you like snow or snowmobiling. Then you should come in the winter and also go on a monster truck trip on ice.
Hiking may be a good activity. Everything else is very overrated.
The nature does not look real; there is no normal looking soil, mostly rocky terrains or volcanic turf Very limited kind of short trees.
Very very expensive, especially restaurants! No meal is less than 40$.
Overall, it's depressing. People are nice but cold, just like the weather.
The only nice activity is hot springs. I really liked the Sky Lagoon, and I would definitely recommend going there to relax your nerves!

First tip for travelers, check the weather forecast and prepare for all options. Weather is changeable, but other than that, Reykjavik is a wonderful city for travelers, The hotel options are amazing and there are so many wonderful things to see and do. The museums, shopping, and restaurants are varied and so much fun. The Whale, Perlan and Phallic museums are must sees.
If you stay downtown, almost everything is within walking distance. Taxis are plentiful and prices are reasonable. If you rent a car, be prepared to spend an inordinate amount of time searching for parking in the city. Free parking is extremely hard to find and you must have the Parka app to pay for parking,
The scenery outside the city is amazing. The roads are well maintained and well marked, Speed limits are strictly enforced via cameras. We found that out the hard way as speed limits drop quickly when approaching a city/town. We rented a car and spent 10 days touring the country. We had to quit stopping every couple of miles to take pictures of all the marvelous waterfalls and scenery or we would have never made our itinerary. It was breathtaking,,,
Most interesting - Golden Mile, , Glacier Tours, and the buffet at The Tomato Greenhouse restaurant.
We have visited Iceland twice and looking forward to a third.

My second time...great food, great sight-seeing especially areas with natural beauty. Easy to get around if you rent a car; most businesses do not have free parking, you must utilize street parking. That being said, there are some designated pay parking areas near/adjacent to most locations. Nearly everyone speaks English.
Great places to eat: Braud & Co., Sandholt Bakery, Baka Baka, Cafe Loki, Jomfruin, 101 Bistro

A beautiful small city but has everything you need even a Hard Rock Cafe! It has interesting modern buildings, interesting museums to visit. The Opera house has a remarkable architecture. The Perlan Museum was also great to see, especially, the ice-cave experience be ready to take with you warm clothes if you are going there. There were hot water beaches and it was interesting to see people going into these hot tubs in regular swimming suits rather than diving suits!. Coming from a hot country where we go swimming in the sea/ocean in the summer only, it was interesting to see people swimming in the ocean! In addition, the drinking, cafes and dining were also great. I highly recommend a stroll around the city and the small lake in the middle of the city. And go to the rainbow street where you can find loads of nice cafes and authentic restaurants and visit cafes like "Mokka Kaffi" which is one of the oldest ones in the city and has great staff and photos around showing the old times mixed with modern ones. I am sure there were other such nice cafes around as we did not have much time these are the one we know. Have a good time and let us know what else you explore in Reykjavik in the future!
Fosshotel has the advantage of being able to choose an ocean view. If you know the reality of Iceland. There is a restaurant where you can eat healthy food with quality ingredients, making it a convenient and memorable experience. Plus, it's in the best location for tours. The hotel is renowned for the friendliness and generous support of all staff. Food courts and downtown are also nearby. Even in Reykjavik, where it's cold all year round, this hotel is warm, cozy, and conveniently arranged, making it a hotel I always return to.
I've travelled the world and stayed in many hostels. Hostel B47 in the heart of Reykjavik center is absolutely among the best I've stayed in! In total I stayed there for 1,5 weeks - and I'd stay there any day again!
The owners and the staff are SUPER nice and they do everything they can to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
In a hostel, I don't expect service at the same level as in a hotel but that's what you get when you stay at Hostel B47.
To me, Hostel B47 was a home away from home. I loved it there!
The Downtown Reykjavik Apartments are an affordable way to see Iceland on a budget. They are not fancy, but they are comfortable enough and provide a kitchen where you can save money by cooking your meals. (You can get to the Bonus grocery store with a 10 minute walk.) We also walked to the church and Sun Voyager from the apartments. It's very close to bus stop #13, and bus stop #12 is a little farther but is also an easy walk. Easy check in, secure, and instructions were clear. We were happy with our 3 night stay.
This is a great place to stay. It's an older building, but it is clean, has helpful staff, and it's affordable. It's close enough to walk to downtown Reykjavik, Harpa, the waterfront, etc. It's off on a quieter sidestreet. There's a Bonus grocery store close by. Breakfast was very nicely laid out in a dining room area with breads, meats, cereals, etc. Very quiet. The rooms are not fancy, nor large, and ours had twin beds. But for a clean, quiet place for a quick visit to Reykjavik this was a great deal.
The location is great, right at the city center, walking distance to important sites in Reykjavik. Our room was very clean with comfortable beds. Breakfast was great! We stayed for 3 nights after our ring road adventure and we were able to relax after 8 days of driving around the country. The staff were always kind and helpful. I will definitely recommend this hotel to all my friends who would want to visit Iceland
Nice stay in the Center of Reykjavik. Breakfast was very good and the staff was very attentive and nice. We had a kettle and tea and coffee in the room. Even though we had a room on the first floor, it was still quiet.
Bus from the bus station (if you take the bus from the airport, it first brings you to the bus station and you take another bus to the city there) stops 1 min walking distance from the hotel.
Ha guys, thank you so much, had an amazing time! You would'nt expect that much from a fairly cheap hostel in the heart of Reykjavik, next time I'll come to Iceland I won't even look at any other places to stay, this is now my go to!
very cool hostel, bar, value, staff, cheap beer, i mean, seriously fecking perfect!! See youz later, until next time! :)
Great place to stay in Reykjavik. The pods are very comfy and soundproof, good location though it's a little bit of a walk to the center of the city. Definitely one of the best deals you will find in all of Iceland for a nice place, as long as you're okay with dorm life. Cool people, I stayed there for ten days and it was an all-around good experience.
Convenient place to stay for a night before or after a flight. Still 40 minutes from the airport but cheaper than most airport hotels. Superior room was a decent size and a little worn in places but it suited us for a 1 night stopover. Room and bathroom was clean. Breakfast was okay. Pretty basic but that is common in most places in Iceland.
I spent the second night in this hotel , before leaving Reykjavik. I must say it's the best solution for a budget stay in Reykjavik, even though it's not so cheap. It's a really central location, easy to reach all the best parts of Reykjavik. The rooms are spacious and clean so if you are lucky to book room in this hotel you will enjoy
Excellent hotel, with comfy spacious rooms. Clean and modern. Great beds and clean and pretty bathroom! A little out of the way of the city centre (45 minute walk) but nonetheless a perfect place to stay when in Reykjavik. Good breakfast with gluten free options.
CenterHotel Plaza had an excellent location right in downtown Reykjavik, close to Bus Stop 1 where a lot of tours and the airport FlyBus depart from. Rooms are sufficient and clean, brightly lit and right on top of a lively square.
The location. It is the best. All our tours picked us up at bus No 8 which is about 2 minutes walk from the hotel. It is also at the entrance of the downtown center. One could not find something better located.
Basic room, very warm with all necessary to stay for a short break to visit Reykjavik, just in the town centre.
may need bit of renovation as furniture look cheap and basic, but everything was functional.
great location, couldn’t get much better.restaurant,s really near and airport bus and trip buses pick up right at the door . could not recommend this hotel highly enough ,even though not cheap
Excellent location. Only 20 minutes walk to downtown Reykjavik. The staff is very polite and helpful. This is a relatively new hotel and everything is clean and modern.
