It is very hilly which I did expect so no surprise but getting about if you have mobility problems could be an issue. It is very busy even for May. The locals are very nice and friendly. Drinks and food are quite expensive generally and getting around can be expensive. If I were to come again I would recommend staying in the very centre of Sorrento and to avoid hotels with courtesy buses unless you are happy to walk or pay for extra taxis when the bus isn’t running at a time convenient for you. Most tours have free hotel pick ups but not all so check this when booking anything otherwise you could end up paying a fortune just getting to the meeting point! Overall a pretty place with lots to do but expensive. If you like seafood - visit Marina Grande and eat at Porto Marina restaurant. You can’t book but we went at 7.30 and had to wait 10 mins but they gave you a glass of wine while you waits. Beautiful place to watch the sunset and excellent seafood at a fairly reasonable price for Sorrento. I’d say the best meal we had in Sorrento.

Sorrento is beautiful with lovely shops and restaurants. The buildings are lovely too. Not that easy to get to beaches.
We're there for 3 weeks in May and temps ranged from 19 to 28c. Plenty of sunshine. A little rain but no great harm.

It is a wonderful location with plenty to do and good access to Pompeii and Herculaneum. It was busy in May so worth considering if you are traveling in July and August. Research your restaurants well. Many in the centre seemed ok but basic fare by Italian standards. Nalu Trattoria and Pizzeria da Franco were fantastic and are worth a visit.

It is beautiful but certainly geared towards extracting every last dollar from tourists. The service in some places was excellent, others not so much. I love the ancient connections and the buildings but having to pay for every little thing is tiring. Whilst I understand that paying to use a toilet is common... 1euro to use a poorly maintained toilet with barely any toilet paper, no toilet seat and a very abrupt person manning it... Not my idea of encouraging. In short, I can tick it off my bucket list but I would not bother going back.
My highlight was engaging with the artisans from Bimonte, who sculpt cameo's. Beautiful, friendly people who are also very talented and happy to share their craft knowledge.

Sorrento is not too big so a couple of days in the town is enough, but from Sorrento there is access to Capri, Amalfi Coast, Vesuvius, Pompeii, Herculanium and Naples - so there are plenty of day trips. We ate at several bars and restaurants and they were all very good. We particularly liked the restaurant Leone Rosso and gelateria David - they are next to each other very close to the train station. We also ate at several places off Piazza Tasso. Can recommend the free walking tour by Guru Guides.

Sorrento is a small town. Touristic, clean, quiet town.
Sorrento is a small town. Touristic, clean, quiet town. Beautiful and not too busy (we were there this May 2024) Prices are normal with some deals to have. It's close to Naples, Pompeii, Capri, Positano and Amalfi that you can use Sorrento as your base for exploring neighboring towns.
Truly an exceptional stay. Cristina and Vittorio are incredible and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time in Sorrento. The property itself is in an amazing location and walking distance to pretty much everything you would need to access. The room was immaculate, and well equipped. Breakfast prepared by the lovely Cristina was delicious and a nice change! This was our favourite place to stay in our 5 week Italy trip, you really feel like you’re at home with Cristina and Vittorio. I cannot recommend them highly enough!
The hotel is very close to the bus/ train station and to Downtown Sorrento.
Very polite and helpful staff. Everything in the room was made for convenience and looked classy.
Great blinds, totally blocking outside light. When open, plenty of natural light.
The internet was very good also.
I don't speak Italian and enjoyed the CNN channel on the TV.
None of the other hotels I stayed in Italy had it.
The breakfast is delivered to the room on the very minutes you requested.
I was very happy there and would love to stay again.
Everything! Nino and his son were very welcoming upon arrival, gave excellent advice about the area, provided refreshments, and even made dinner reservations for us during our stay! Nino and his son checked in with us frequently to make sure we were comfortable and to offer any help as needed. The property is historical with modern amenities inside, and right in the heart of Sorrento.
My husband and I toured all over Italy, and this was our favorite stay by far!
Thank you Nino!
It was wonderful. Rita is a fantastic host! You feel like you are staying with family. The breakfast in the morning, cappuccino’s, etc are excellent. She made us home made Tiramisu, best we ever had! If you are planning on staying in Sorrento this has to be your first choice. We have never been to Italy and we stayed here four nights. When we come back we will only stay here. Plus it’s a great location to walk to all the restaurants and shops. Everything within 15 minutes.
Excellent location as could cut through to the main street. Near the main train station, all of the shops and restaurants but set back so not noisy. Liked having a patio. Helpful having a fridge in the room. The included breakfast was good for what we needed and set us up for the day. Plenty to eat. The room was lovely with good storage space for clothes. We were very happy with our stay here, it was a great base for exploring the area of Italy. Thank you Hotel Eden.
The best place in Sorrento! Positioned in the centre of Sorrento, with wonderful décor, a very cozy and comfortable atmosphere. The breakfast was homemade and in the spirit of Italy, delicious croissants and my favorite cappuccino were the best we have tried. Thank you, Federica, for making our stay unique and unforgettable! The information you gave us was very useful and facilitated our journey. We will never forget our stay in Sorrento!!!
Great location. Close to the border of Sorrento. Beautiful apartment . Clean modern and nicely decorated. Kitchen well stocked- has spices coffee, tea, sugar and water. Plenty of cookware, and dishes. Very clean. Has island. Beautiful ocean view from balcony. Both bedrooms have queen size beds. Two bathrooms with showers. Plenty of books on Italy available. Three TV’s . Large couch. Staff was very accommodating about arrival time.
This hotel was a great stay while in Sorrento on our tour of Italy. It was a little walk up the hill on the way out of Sorrento on the way to Sant Agata. The hotel was very clean and the pool and sun terrace were great. The breakfast and evening meals were also good As part of the holiday we had a car and we had to pay for parking ,however, it was only €10 per night. We stayed for two nights on our way further down south.
Very beautiful and unique place in among lemon groves. Fruit trees and roses in the garden and an amazing view from a terrace on the roof. Enza went above and beyond: she met us at the train station and gave us a ride to her property. Best breakfast we have had at a B&B during our entire stay in Italy!! Free shuttle to and from the property was great. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!
The location is amazing, it’s easy to access ferries and we think Sorrento is the perfect base for this part of Italy. The accommodation feels very personal and the detail in everything is brilliant. The bed was by far the most comfortable we have had on our travels, the room is cleaned daily, it’s relaxing and the breakfast is a great way to start the day.
The BEST place we have ever stayed whilst we were travelling around Italy. It is about a 20 minute walk from Sorrento port, the host was so lovely and helped us organise our trip to Capri! I couldn't open a bottle of Prosecco as the cork had sunk and she was great with helping us out. Such a lovely lady that made the stay worth it!
Hotel Il Faro was our favorite stay in Italy! The entire staff was welcoming and helpful, the breakfast was delicious and had many options, the location is convenient and close to the sea, and our room was clean and spacious with a beautiful balcony view of the sea! We will definitely be returning here if we visit Sorrento again.
Amazing hotel. The shuttle to Sorrento city centre is such a benefit.
Amazing staff and the breakfast had such a huge selection. And the omelettes were the best we ever had.
And the dinner in the beautiful room overlooking the city was an experience we will not forget and will be hard to beat in Italy.
Cannot wait to return!
The place was located in an excellent area and near all the main attractions. Rafaella is one of the most attentive, easygoing and careful people we’ve met during our stay. the breakfast was one of a kind. Bedroom & bathroom were bigger than any hotel you can find in Italy. View of the balcony was impressive. WE LOVED IT !
This location is conveniently located in the heart of Sorrento. The hosts were very accommodating and gave us a list of recommendations upon arrival. They were also very responsive to questions and check-in. The beds were more comfortable than most places I have stayed in Italy. We will gladly stay again on our next visit.
Giuseppe welcomed us and showed us around. He’s the nicest guy in all Sorrento. The rooms are super spacious and have everything you need. The bed was great and the shower the best in all our Italy tour. Also we had two balconies to enjoy, and they brought us breakfast to our room at the time we chose.
Thoroughly enjoyable stay. Ideal location for access to the best Sorrento has to offer. 2 minute walk to train station and bus routes to explore the rest of the this beautiful part of Italy. Giuseppe was an attentive host who gave brilliant advice on what to do and where to go. Would highly recommend!
I loved my stay here. It was so convenient for exploring Sorrento and Luca could not have been a better host. He was always available and willing to share his extensive knowledge of the area. Perfect for a first time visit to Italy!
Excellent breakfast -probably the best we have experienced in Italy.
Lovely rooms
The view.
Really really lovely people who work there
The courtesy car to go to Sorrento and back
It was our starting location for southern Italy and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Beautiful location, beautiful friendly family run. It was an amazing start to our vacation.
