Beautiful architecture of the main attraction buildings.
Beautiful architecture of the main attraction buildings. San Marco square floods at high tide which may make it difficult to cross at times, though makes for beautiful reflection photos particularly at blue hour. Very busy with tourists in the middle of the day, even at sunset.
Getting in and out of the city requires a bit of planning. Would avoid large luggage if you can avoid it; if not taking private water taxi would be recommended so you can be dropped off close to your accommodation. Crossing the bridges (which all have stair steps) can be very difficult with luggage. If planning on getting a rental car, plan trip to Venice at the beginning or end so you don't need to park the car in the public lot.
Getting around Venice for a first time visit was much easier with google maps; GPS worked fine even though some reports had said it did not work in the city streets well.

Breakfast was very good, as was the access to cold water. We stored our luggage at no cost and were able to use the toilet when we picked up our bags later in the day. The host/receptionist was very helpful.

Venice is an incredible city.
Venice is an incredible city. Definitely worth going during the week as it can get crowded and I would expect it to be even more so at weekends. Also there is a city tax payable to access Venice at weekends, which is not applicable during the week. The ferry can also get a bit busy, but it was ok while we were there. The area around Rialto is very crowded but if you go a bit out of that area towards Fondamenta Nuove it's fine. Murano and Burano worth visiting. Burano in particular is stunning, the restaurants there are excellent. Just be aware that the vaporetto ferry is very expensive, at €9.50 for a ticket valid 75 minutes only, so you will need 2 tickets to visit Burano as it's about 30-40 minutes away.

An old and beautiful city. People are very friendly. It was crowded with tourists in the narrow streets so be ready for that. Great dining options on almost every corner. I suggest a small group tour with someone local to get to know the history and legends of this beautiful city.

Venice is known for walking and gondolas.
Venice is known for walking and gondolas. Choose a hotel that will allow you to do that and relax. Getting lost in the alleys is part of the charm. When I visited, there was an at fair taking place - so I could to see a few great installations.
I had the pleasure of staying in this charming and intimate hotel in an absolutely fantastic location. It's just a 3-minute walk from the water taxi station, a mere minute from St. Mark's Square, and the gondola stop is conveniently right outside. The hotel boasts a unique style that beautifully captures the essence of Venice. The rooms are not only stylish but also impeccably clean, a rarity in Italy. The prime location added to the overall enjoyment of my stay. It was truly perfect, so I extend my sincere thanks!
The staff was very welcoming! They spoke English and gave us terrific information about which attractions in Venice were a must to see. The room was in a great location near St. Marcos, the room was beautiful, the and the beds were comfortable. It’s been EXTREMELY HOT in Italy, so when the description says air conditioning, we expected the room to be cool all the way through, and it was perfect!! The bathroom was nice and big. We appreciated the shower water pressure, very much.
I will definitely stay at this hotel again. In a very good spot on a piazza close to 3 vaporetto stations in a central part of Venice. The staff were very nice and the breakfast was very good. The shower was the best I have had in Italy so far. There is nothing I didn't like. The decor was a bit wild but even that was cool and totally suited to Venice. The square it was in had lots of eating and drinking options but never felt crowded which is rare for Venice.
This was the most polished and professional location we rented in the 6 cities in Italy that we visited. It's a beautiful and spacious apartment like suite with very modern amenities. The keycard for entering was super easy and made the final stretch of our visit simple and pleasant. The host was available to help and provide guidance on visiting Venice during our visit and was super friendly. We would absolutely stay here the next time we visit Venice!
The location is excellent. Even though you can find accommodation in Venice for cheaper costs, one should remember that the city is quite busy and walking around can get pretty tiring. We were incredibly happy that we could go back to our place in the center whenever we felt like getting some rest or just dropping packages from shops. Also, the breakfast is probably the best one could expect in Italy cause you get not only cold but also hot options.
What a wonderful property Luana and Roberto have, we had such amazing stay and it was perfectly located.
The beds are SO comfortable, our best sleep in our two weeks in italy! They are so attentive to their guests to give recommendation and help them have the best time in venice. Also, to our surprise we were offered a wonderful breakfast in the morning! We truly felt so welcomed and taken care of, it was great, highly recommend:)
The breakfast was the best one we had in italy , it is carried up in baskets together with juice coffee and fresh warm croissants and bread ! Amazing. Totally did not expect that at all. The staff is also extremely kind to us. We were allowed to stow our bag in the hotel so we could explore easier the last day. Which helped so much since venice is full of stairs and carrying bags can be troublesome. The bed was very soft as well.
The best find in Venice! This apartment was enormous and so full of character. We loved the 3 large open balcony windows where we could sit and watch the gondolas come by whilst reading a book and sipping on wine. Perfect location and the host was tremendous! Susanna kindly left us champagne and strawberries for our honeymoon! What a fantastic way to end our tour of Italy...until next time!
Very nice and quiet location. Ideal for exploring Venice and jumping into the life of a local. A true Venetian neighbourhood.
The owners are lucky to have such a host like Fabio in the Locanda. He makes your stay feel like home. Open for any questions and giving advice. Because of him and the personal touch this was one of the best hotel/b&b experiences in Italy for us.
Hotel Gardena was perfect for my husband and I on our babymoon to Venice. We loved the location- about 20 min walk to st marks square and in a quieter area that was so fun to walk around during the day and at night. Breakfast was great, the room was charming. This was a real highlight of our trip through Italy and definately somewhere we would come back to.
The Hotel was located in a perfect location. Staff was outstanding!!!! Helped with everything from restaurants, sights, and the pharmacy where we could get our Covid test and paperwork for our departure from Italy. Lara is enthusiastic about her job and helping you get the full Venice Experience!!!! This the only place that I would stay in Venice…..
I would stay I had best time of my life in Venice mainly because of this hotel. I stayed 5 nights and I was upgraded to Junior suit. The suit was spacious, tastefully decorated and was astonishingly cleaned 2 to 3 times a day without us knowing. The breakfast spread was big with vegan choices and delicious. Location is fabulous bang on Grand canal.
Everything was exceptional! The staff was awesome, helpful, and compassionate. The facilities were immaculate and very comfortable. It was my wife and my first visit to Italy. The staff recommended a private boat ride around Venice which proved to be a great idea. The hotel location is a short walk from the Piazza St Marco.
Roberto is the best host I have met during my trip to Italy. Kind, helpful and cordial. His BB is located right next to the beautiful parks and Giardini, in a calm and quiet part of Venice. There is a nice local bar next to the house where you can chat with local people in the evenings. I will be back!
Great location in the beginning of Venice, so you can get ride of your luggage right away. Everything worked well, and staff was really friendly. Breakfast was better than expected,as often in Italy the breakfast are not so good but this place had good variations. Can easily recommended the hotel 🙂
This was my favourite stay in Italy. The hotel is located close to the water bus stop, the staff were very accommodating and friendly, a variety of items were provided for breakfast daily and everything was delicious, my room was cozy, very clean and well lit. I would stay here again.
best hotel in entire Italy trip
we went into our hotel room and found a broken toilet bowl seat and the team has upgraded our rooms to compensate us

staff was very friendly
toilet is very spacious and amenities were plentiful
It had a nice spread of breakfast, probably the best I got during my entire stay in Italy. It’s a beautiful boutique hotel that has super friendly staff and very clean.
