How many people can say they’ve stayed in a 15th-century convent? You can if you book Relais Chiostro di Pienza, a charming hotel set right in the heart of Pienza.

The staff was excellent and friendly, accommodating last minute requests. The dinner was the best meal of the trip. Pici, a local pasta with pecorino cheese and shaved truffles, and the BEST sautéed spinach of my entire life! (I enjoy a lot of spinach at home and while traveling!)
Also, the view from the dining tables was spectacular!

This is one of the most charming hotels we’ve ever stayed at! Beds and pillows were very comfortable. Had one of our best nights here. Wish we could’ve stayed longer but we were just passing by from Florence on our way to Rome.

Wonderful little town, not so crowded but much nicer than other hyped destinations like Siena or San Gimignano. Lot's of plants on the street,, endless restaurants, that's exactly what we like. Also e-Bike Tuscany by Steffi is recommended to try. Scenery is unbelievely amazing.

Pienza is small but has an excellent selection for dining. Sight seeing in town is somewhat limited but affords terrific views over Val d'Orcia. If you like Pecorino cheese, you have to visit the shops in Pienza. Quick bite, try Pizzeria Pummaro near gate into old center. For charm and quality meal try Pane Vino & Zucchero. For all round the Trattoria la Buca Delle Fate is good. For a good hike outside of town, don't stop at the spot where they shot the Gladiator scene, keep going.

Pienza has one main street which means it can feel crowded when a relatively small number of people visit. There is limited free parking which is also used by residents.
There are a variety of small shops which mostly sell typical regional products. There is an abundance of Pecorino and hams. It is possible to buy a range of different quality of jewelry. There are also a few clothes shops.
There is a beautiful panoramic walk on the entrance from the North.
The town is blessed with a variety of restaurants and bars which are mostly tradition Tuscan food. There are also at least two ice cream shops.
The market takes place on Friday. In October there are a number of events such as the chocolate festival which means it gets very crowded on the weekend. There are limited public services such as clean bathrooms.
I limited the amount of time that I visited the town during my week long stay mainly due to access to parking. You have to pay 24/7 which is a problem for evening meal when travelling alone in the dark at a parking meter.

We utilised Pienza as a base from which to explore various towns within the Val D'Orcia, a world heritage area. We could have stayed longer to visit more towns and explore mountain biking trails. Pienza in itself is clean, beautifully restored, has chic dining spots and it was a privilege to have visited.

Pienza is now one of our favourite destinations in Tuscany.
Pienza is now one of our favourite destinations in Tuscany. We have visited San Gimignano, Siena, Monteriggioni. Montepulcino whilst travelling by car and have found Pienza to be so pretty and enjoyable to be in. Parking was easy to navigate and the laneways of Pienza were quiet and so charming. The walkway/lookout side of the town provided vistas that you would hope for. Pienza is also quite close to those classic Tuscan scenes/photos that you may have seen previously.
The three days we stayed at Palazzo Massaini-Le Scuderie brought us a pleasant and perfect experience in Tuscany. The hotel is located on a hill with a view of Pienza and the Tuscan countryside. The hotel itself is a landscape, and passing cars will stop to take pictures. The three windows of the room look out to the beautiful scenery of Tuscany and the hotel garden! The room facilities are perfect, the breakfast is rich, and free capsule coffee is provided in the room living room. Perfect experience, we will come back again!
Wonderful castle hotel in Val d'Orcia. Check in was comfortable, the lady handed us a paper with recommended restaurants and activities in the area. The castle has a big garden with swimming pool. It was easy to visit some towns in the area from here (like Pienza and Montepulciano). Breakfast was awesome. The castle produces its own vegetables, fruits, wine, wheat, etc which are sold at the shop located on its property. Would recommend!
We loved the beautiful buildings we loved the food! It was excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful and it was a 10 minute drive into Pienza or close to drive into multipuciano or Siena maybe an hour away. The views and the sunsets were stunning and everything was absolutely delicious And top-notch.
Loved the cooking class with Rodi and was sooo well done!!
Pool was refreshing and clean! You are in the countryside in Italy!
A wonderful place to stay in beautiful Tuscany. All the beauties are within walking distance. Shop, café, laundry service are also close by. The hostess is very welcoming, although we didn't see her. Helped us to get from another town as we didn't catch the last bus.
The hotel is in the centre of the town. The room is clean and there is a coffee machine. We were very happy with it. I hope to return to wonderful Tuscany one day!
Great location, few minutes walking from Pienza old town and all restaurants there.
Hotel has the best possible view, also from the tarrace where tasty breakfast is served - over the Tuscan valley.
Staff is very friendly, positive and helpful, even organized us great trip to nice small winery, with walk though spectacular valleys and preordered taxi back.
Despite the disappointing aspects of our stay, the hotel's close proximity to the charming town of Pienza was a redeeming factor. A short walk allowed for easy exploration of this picturesque destination. Additionally, the hotel itself was housed in a visually appealing building, adding a touch of architectural charm to the experience.
How can you top staying in a beautifully appointed 13th century castle in the most convenient location to Pienza, Montepulciano and Montalcino? The Bellavista room overlooks the hills of Tuscany, has a full kitchen, 2 full baths, living room dining room and large bedroom with sitting area. It’s bigger than most condos!
The location is absolutely outstanding, it's a 6 minute drive to Pienza and in my opinion this is the most beautiful part of tuscany. There's a gorgeous view of Pienza from the pool, the 1 bedroom apartment had everything you need for a holiday, the breakfast has a lot of options and the staff is super kind.
It’s in the historic center of the Pienza, near everything. Andrea is a wonderful host, very helpful and always eager to give plenty of info, not only for Pienza, but for the whole Tuscany. The apartment is even more beautiful than the photos! It’s fully equipped, pretty spacious and very clean.
Very good location, 10 mins walk to Pienza town center, no need to worry about the ZTL. Not just the interior is quite neat, the view from the place is amazing. Don’t forgot to check the pool and enjoy overlooking the orcia valley.
The property has amazing views of the Val d'Orcia region of Tuscany and has a very relaxing and peaceful vibe. The accommodation is spacious and comfortable. Location is also great and near the town of Pienza and Montepulciano.
Very nice hotel with comfy rooms and a nice patio with hot tub. Breakfast choices were great. Staff was wonderful and helpful with everything. Would highly recommend staying at this hotel . Pienza and are were wonderful
When one has the passion and vision to repurpose what was, into a vibrant, hospitable part of the Commune of Pienza, the outcome exceeds expectation!!! Thank you Maurizio, Anna and Mattia. See you again
Very comfortable, quiet modern hotel. Parking on-site and easy. A short flat walk into the old part of Pienza. The breakfast buffet was good. Pienza is a cute, small old town and the walking is flat.
We loved the setting, view, history, location, pool, breakfast/restaurant, pretty much everything about it! We fell in love with Pienza and it was the perfect home base for exploring Tuscany.
Very clean and nice taste I can tell from the style of house. Very big and totally worth for the price. Very Close to the nice view of pienza. And very host as well!
The location is wonderful to experience the Tuscany's best attractions. Close to wonderful Pienza, the landscape is amazing and the staff very nice and helpful.
Great location within easy walking distance from Pienza, a town I would highly recommend as a base for time in Tuscany. Lovely staff and good breakfast.
