Providing mountain views, Capanna Suites in Montalcino provides accommodations, a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, a garden, a terrace, a restaurant and a spa & wellness center. It looks exactly like the pictures, if not better! My boyfriend and I spent two nights here in August and have zero complaints. It is a small boutique hotel so there was one afternoon where we had the entire pool to ourselves despite it being busy season. We ate dinner one night at the restaurant, and the pastas were the best we had during our entire trip. The staff are all so nice and very accommodating. I would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing, romantic few days out in the beautiful countryside.

Fantastic little town. Some great restaurants. Right in the best wine area in Italy. You will love it! Re di Macchia Restorante was so good. The best Florentine steak we ever had. Good prices and the owner Antonio gave us round after round of free Limincello and grappa. He is the best!!!!
Beautiful Tuscan town in the rolling hills of the Val D’Orcia, famous for its Brunello di Montalcino wine and within easy reach of other towns such as Pienza, Montepulciano, Sienna and many others. Steeped in history, with beautiful restaurants and bars - a relaxed, beautiful town (including well stocked supermarket if needed).
We did not permit enough time in our schedule to explore the town of Montalcino. We flew into Rome and rented a car, after reaching Montalcino the choice was rest or explore, and we choose to rest and then get a wine tasting and dinner. Our schedule did not permit time the next day to explore. Leave yourself enough time, don't expect everyone will have enough energy to walk the village if you had a long travel day.
Lovely small town and typical of the region. Reasonably good choice of restaurants but be prepared to get a lesser service than those who are Italian. Service was fine albeit a bit slower as waiters were not as attentive towards foreigners… Not so many opportunities for shopping (like you would find in bigger towns like Sienna, Montepulciano etc) but still great for a wander around for half a day… just be prepared for an uphill walk from the available car parks!
Quaint small town rich in history and well worth staying in town. If you’re staying make sure you rent a small care, the town streets are challenging. Tourists come for Brunello but soon fall in love with the locals.
Montalcino is a very high hill town with narrow streets so make sure to park by the fortress or a bit further along where there are signs for P. Be sure to have coins to pay for parking as the machines don't accept cc.It's advisable to make dinner reservations in advance. We enjoyed eating at Il Giardino. Also, wear comfortable shoes to go up and down the steep streets. FYI it's usually quite breezy because it's high up. The supermarket is open from 8-1 & 4-8pm so plan accordingly.
The place is wonderful. All the people Are very polite and helpful. We had the feeling that they are doing their best to make our stay special. At the beginning I was a little bot afraid due to some negative reviews. I was so wrong! The hotel is great, with clean and nice pool, the breakfast was fresh and tasty. Our room was big and clean with the view which we will never forget. Great location, near to the restaurants. We have spent great time with our 2 dogs. I highly recommend this place. Thank you!
Montalcino
The place is lovely, Sant'Angelo in Colle is one of the most beautiful towns in Val d'Orcia. The hotel is perfectly integrated in the traditional architecture. The apartment (two bedrooms, living room, kitchen) is equipped with all comforts. What makes the most difference is the art of hospitality by the owners. Always discreet, but always careful to ensure the best service to the guests, from the rich and refined breakfast, to the tourist information, to the assistance on every need.
Montalcino
Nice location just outside of Montalcino In Montalcino and other wine country i feel it is essential to have a car. The views from the balcony were exceptional. Every sunset was a joy to watch :) nice fairly spacious room with possibility to cook (need to get your own condiments and sauces)

Great location near downtown Montalcino and gorgeous view of the wine vineyard. Had a tasting of the property's own Brunello in the tasting room. Great breakfast included and relaxing weekend lounging at the property. The team at the property couldn't be friendlier.
Great location and great views. Parking comfortably on site. Fantastic pool. Eleonora, from the hotel staff, was super friendly and helpful. She really made the difference in our visit to Montalcino and Val D'Orcia.
