When we pulled up, we were in absolute awe of this location. Very majestic on a hill top over looking the endless fields for miles and miles. Out of all the hotels we stayed at in Italy, this is one we treasured the most. The ancient walls with a modern convenience were more than we expected. Some reviewers mentioned the dinning being pricy but you truly get what you pay for. Dinner was impeccable with an amazing view so it was very much with it. Book this place, you won’t regret it.

A lovely hilltop town in an excellent location for touring Brunello vineyards, We had some good though costly meals. The MAJOR problem is that if you stay overnight you will need earplugs, The 2 huge town clocks chime every hour and every 1/2 hour all through the night - It is VERY loud. Most towns stop their chimes at 10pm or sunset and restart 7am. PLEASE someone make this happen in the beautiful Montalcino- We had no sleep!
Fantastic little town. Some great restaurants. Right in the best wine area in Italy. You will love it! Re di Macchia Restorante was so good. The best Florentine steak we ever had. Good prices and the owner Antonio gave us round after round of free Limincello and grappa. He is the best!!!!
Beautiful Tuscan town in the rolling hills of the Val D’Orcia, famous for its Brunello di Montalcino wine and within easy reach of other towns such as Pienza, Montepulciano, Sienna and many others. Steeped in history, with beautiful restaurants and bars - a relaxed, beautiful town (including well stocked supermarket if needed).
We did not permit enough time in our schedule to explore the town of Montalcino. We flew into Rome and rented a car, after reaching Montalcino the choice was rest or explore, and we choose to rest and then get a wine tasting and dinner. Our schedule did not permit time the next day to explore. Leave yourself enough time, don't expect everyone will have enough energy to walk the village if you had a long travel day.
Lovely small town and typical of the region. Reasonably good choice of restaurants but be prepared to get a lesser service than those who are Italian. Service was fine albeit a bit slower as waiters were not as attentive towards foreigners… Not so many opportunities for shopping (like you would find in bigger towns like Sienna, Montepulciano etc) but still great for a wander around for half a day… just be prepared for an uphill walk from the available car parks!
Quaint small town rich in history and well worth staying in town. If you’re staying make sure you rent a small care, the town streets are challenging. Tourists come for Brunello but soon fall in love with the locals.
Montalcino
The guest house consisted of 4 spacious rooms. It is located nearly in the centre . Only a minute walk from the bus stop where 114 stops. The breakfast is more than satisfactory. You can have coffee from the coffee machine all day where you can find several choices. The heating is very good. The owner of the guest house , Fulvia is very kind and friendly. Highly recommend if you have plan to visit Tuscany or Montalcino.
This is my second time staying at the hotel. I am a foreigner living in Italy and am absolutely in love with the views from the rooms. They are clean and the staff was super friendly. They knew I was a solo traveler and made sure to help me with parking and directions to navigate through the town. Of special note was the receptionist Mariangela who made me feel like family and was very warm and kind throughout my stay.
Montalcino
Breatkfast was great, Fabio had a selection of freshly baked cakes every morning on offer and prepared eggs just as we liked it. Each morning he attentively asked what our plans were and suggested places to go. The view from our room was breathtaking. Beds were comfortable and AC worked well (it was +33C outside). The pool area was cosy and relaxing. Montalcino town was close enough for eating out and shopping.
Montalcino
The location in Montalcino was spectacular, Dida , the host, did personally welcomed us, gave us great recommendations and made our time here fabulous. Breakfast, which was served on our terrace was excellent. We were able to park our car for free at the B&B site, which is very important because usually cars have to be parked outside the city walls. The B&B experience was wonderful and we will be back.
Montalcino
Amazing location above the Main Street in Montalcino with incredible views across the roof tops into the valley below. Our room was immaculate with a comfy bed and really nicely decorated in a modern style sympathetic to the historic nature of the building. The staff were lovely! Be aware they don’t speak a lot of English, but that won’t stop them helping you. Will 100% be returning. Grazie Mille
Montalcino
The management was friendly, attentive, and very authoritative about Montalcino. Her recommendations for wine tasting and restaurants were excellent. The rooms were lovely, large and comfortable. The terrace outside was a superb place to spend the afternoon. A highlight of our trip to Italy, and we hope to be back. PS Breakfast was great, too.
Montalcino
Every corner of the hotel is touched with attention to detail, loved the antique furnitures and the decorations. The location and the view of the landscape give just the authentic Tuscany feeling. Pool area is very cool. The beds are very comfortable. We recommend the vertical tasting at sunset.
The view from the room was breathtaking. You can see Montalcino and Val d' Orcia from the room. Old and historic hotel, but very clean and renovated. I loved the old furniture. The restaurant in the hotel is wonderful and definately worth a visit.
Montalcino
Absolutely fantastic! It was one of the best stays we‘ve ever experienced! The owners Michele and Sara are such lovely and caring hosts, they helped us with the luggage, all the food was homemade, and the hotel and room were just perfect!
