The entire stay was absolutely amazing and peaceful. We arrived just before dinner and were greeted and given snacks and Prosecco. The room was beyond exceptional and exceeded all expectations.

The patio was spectacular! The room had everything we needed, but was kins of blend. Very comfortable and clean, but thing mid level hotel when compared to others of same price. Also, the room was really big and the AC located at a location that was not very efficient. But if you want to stay at a perfect location, all these things become minor details - the location was amazing and the restaurant terrific.

San Gimignano, with the Italian sun glistening intently on its 14 remaining towers, cuts a dramatic figure from its position high on a Tuscan hill overlooking vineyards. However, it is when you get up-close-and-personal with this medieval-walled city and crane your neck to the blue sky that you truly appreciate its mesmerising beauty.
If you take away the swarming summer tourists circling the piazzas of San Gimignano, then this city offers you a wonderful trip back in time. The main square, Piazza della Cisterna, is surrounded by Romanesque buildings and Piazza del Duomo features Torre Grossa, the city’s tallest tower.

We were there for 4 days near San Gimignano. We only spent 1 day, plus some evenings in San Gimignano. We did day trips to wineries and other countryside attractions on most days. 4 days actually in San Gimignano is probably too long, but it you're doing day travels to other Tuscany attractions, 4 days worked very well for us and was just right. We visited other towns and attractions and used San Gimignano as a home base.

Our visit to San Gimignano (2 days) could have been a day or two longer. If we had stayed longer we would have rented a vespa and toured the winding roads around the city. If you have an interest in wine, schedule a educational tasting at the La Vernaccia di San Gimignano Wine Experience. You won't be disappointed. There are plenty of great restaurants and wine bars to visit. Also climb the 200+ steps up the bell tower for a spectacular view of the area. Buy the city pass that covers all the historical sites in the city. There are a lot of visitors that come during the day but the city really calms down during the evening so if there are long lines at the 2 excellent gelato shops in the main square, just go back after or before dinner.

Really beautiful, wonderful little Tuscan town.
Really beautiful, wonderful little Tuscan town. But, it's swimming with tourists basically year round, and all the shops and restaurants are very expensive because of that. We mostly ate in and went hiking, trying to avoid the crowds. It's a good place to shop if you have money!

My wife and me, and another couple spent a week at Podere la Campagnola in October and loved every moment. The house has been recently renovated and is easy to access the walled village of San Gimignano with a 25-minute walk. The patio has a table and chairs where we enjoyed wine and appetizers. The kitchen is well stocked with equipment for cooking and serving. The beds are super comfortable, and shutters on the windows provide absolute darkness for sleeping in. The whole place was immaculate. The upstairs living room was super cozy with 2 comfy couches, a TV, and a small desk. The downstairs living room has a couch, fireplace, coffee bar, washer, and TV. The closets are huge and roomy. There was a vegetable garden, fruit trees, beautiful landscaping, and the property sits in the middle of hundreds of acres of vineyards and olive groves. It was like a retreat because of the exceptional quiet of the property. One of the best parts about this experience was meeting Giuseppe, Donatella, and Elisa, our hosts. They took care of every one of our needs, including picking us up at the bus drop off point upon our arrival, to driving us to the train station for our departure. I would definitely recommend this home and hope to return someday.

Among many exceptional hilltop sites across Tuscany, San Gimignano is something to behold. The layers of architecture across the town are intriguing, and the views across the countryside from side alleys are always the subject of ultimate holiday pics for those who glimpse the marvels this area holds. Through the day San Gimignano can be very busy with bus loads of tourists, and those tourists staying locally, but you can always find space to just relax and watch as the world visits this lovely town. To be honest, the standard of cuisine and food in general across the town is high, fairly priced, and delicious. The surrounding area holds many additional treats for those who can travel further afield. A magical place. Take some pics of the town above head height, and apply some monochrome filters, stunning. A character filled and lovely site for a day visit, but so much more to offer if you can stay for a few days, or more, and an amazing base for the wonder of Tuscany.

The scenery was beautiful in this area.
The scenery was beautiful in this area. I would recommend a car to explore a bit. Volterra was another close old city worth exploring with San Gimignano as the home base. Nearby wineries and cooking classes were also wonderful.

We absolutely loved the host. Even though the farm was far away from the city he always offered us a ride (we were traveling with a group of 18-years old and did not have a car). He brought us homemade pasta sauce and mostly because of that we didn't mind any of the accommodation inconveniences. We loved the mini bar (we had never seen such low prices in italy- even lower than in the store) and the pool and the table tennis. If we were ever to visit san giminiano again we would love to come back here!!
love you Paolo:)
I don't know a better place in Italy! It is so beautiful place that I would prefer not to share it with anyone! :))) Great location for daily trips!
Serena is amazing, explains everything, gives good advice. We are very much looking forward to our next vacation in this wonderful place.
Very roomy apartment in excellent condition. This was my stop to do laundry halfway through my stay in Italy and it worked out great. There were strings outside the window to hang things to dry. The hosts had prepared a lot of information about the area for the guests in the room.
This was the best place we stayed at during our trip through Italy. Everything was fantastic and they were incredible hosts. My partner is a coeliac and they prepared separate gluten free food for her breakfast and dinner.
Excellent location, overviewing the vineyards. You can watch the suns goes down, while sipping a glass of wine in the garden. Very friendly staff, exceptional breakfast - best "corneto"(croissant) eaten in Italy.
