How many people can say they’ve stayed in a 15th-century convent? You can if you book Relais Chiostro di Pienza, a charming hotel set right in the heart of Pienza.

The staff was excellent and friendly, accommodating last minute requests. The dinner was the best meal of the trip. Pici, a local pasta with pecorino cheese and shaved truffles, and the BEST sautéed spinach of my entire life! (I enjoy a lot of spinach at home and while traveling!)
Also, the view from the dining tables was spectacular!

Wonderful little town, not so crowded but much nicer than other hyped destinations like Siena or San Gimignano. Lot's of plants on the street,, endless restaurants, that's exactly what we like. Also e-Bike Tuscany by Steffi is recommended to try. Scenery is unbelievely amazing.

Pienza is small but has an excellent selection for dining. Sight seeing in town is somewhat limited but affords terrific views over Val d'Orcia. If you like Pecorino cheese, you have to visit the shops in Pienza. Quick bite, try Pizzeria Pummaro near gate into old center. For charm and quality meal try Pane Vino & Zucchero. For all round the Trattoria la Buca Delle Fate is good. For a good hike outside of town, don't stop at the spot where they shot the Gladiator scene, keep going.

Pienza has one main street which means it can feel crowded when a relatively small number of people visit. There is limited free parking which is also used by residents.
There are a variety of small shops which mostly sell typical regional products. There is an abundance of Pecorino and hams. It is possible to buy a range of different quality of jewelry. There are also a few clothes shops.
There is a beautiful panoramic walk on the entrance from the North.
The town is blessed with a variety of restaurants and bars which are mostly tradition Tuscan food. There are also at least two ice cream shops.
The market takes place on Friday. In October there are a number of events such as the chocolate festival which means it gets very crowded on the weekend. There are limited public services such as clean bathrooms.
I limited the amount of time that I visited the town during my week long stay mainly due to access to parking. You have to pay 24/7 which is a problem for evening meal when travelling alone in the dark at a parking meter.

We utilised Pienza as a base from which to explore various towns within the Val D'Orcia, a world heritage area. We could have stayed longer to visit more towns and explore mountain biking trails. Pienza in itself is clean, beautifully restored, has chic dining spots and it was a privilege to have visited.

Pienza is now one of our favourite destinations in Tuscany.
Pienza is now one of our favourite destinations in Tuscany. We have visited San Gimignano, Siena, Monteriggioni. Montepulcino whilst travelling by car and have found Pienza to be so pretty and enjoyable to be in. Parking was easy to navigate and the laneways of Pienza were quiet and so charming. The walkway/lookout side of the town provided vistas that you would hope for. Pienza is also quite close to those classic Tuscan scenes/photos that you may have seen previously.
Excellent location, beautiful setting, clean and spacious rooms, comfortable beds, great AC, and most importantly, gracious hosts! The working olive farm is well located for ebiking to nearby medieval towns and restaurants. It is on top of a hill dotted by 200 olive trees that can be seen from a distance. Great for photography! Our hosts had even arranged for the ebikes to be delivered to the property. Poggio Tobruk was easily our favorite stay during our five week adventure in Italy! Thank you Frederico and Marco!
it looks much beautiful live than in pictures. lovely place, with a great staff, who have tried to help us with all what we needed.
A big like, because the hotel put at your disposal bottles of still water and you would not have worried from where you can buy water in the middle of Tuscany, mostly in the evening.
great wines at the Palazzo and a lovely pool which could be used by all guests accomoated at the 2 facilities of the property.
we would definetely like to come back. our space was Salvia, 2 beds in 2 rooms.
My wife and I had an amazing couple of nights here during our honeymoon.. Federico was incredibly hospitable, generous and gave us great tips about the area. Breakfast was perfect. Beds were VERY comfortable. 10min drive from Bagno Vignoni, Montecchielo and Pienza makes this a really special, well situated spot worth visiting any time you're in Tuscany. In fact, we were so impressed by the service and so moved by the view thay we ended up staying an additional night. Highly, highly recommended.
absolutely stunning location, the view over the valley from the dining tables and pool area was something we will never forget. Loved the town of Pienza and the hotel was in the perfect location. Breakfast was good - everything that one needs and we also had dinner there - some of the reviews were not good but we were very happy with our meal and would recommend the restaurant. The bedroom was huge and most importantly the beds were super comfortable. We will be back
Peaceful, beautiful grounds around the hotel. Staff and very attentive, booking a wine tour at a local winery with added discount :) Breakfast was delicious, especially the juices :) made with all local products. Ate dinner every night during our 3 nights as was easy to enjoy wine without driving home. Be sure to get some wine, cheese at local town in Pienza, 15 min drive and enjoy on hotel grounds by the pool while watching the sunset, spectacular!
I consider myself very lucky to have been able to stay in this place. Everything was good in a quiet town. The staff was kind, the room was large and comfortable, and the bathroom was clean and nice like a hotel. In particular, the homemade breakfast was fresh, nice, and delicious. I went for a walk to the middle of Pienza early in the morning, and I was really happy because the surrounding scenery was so beautiful. I am very satisfied
Alice and Simon were so helpful with everything. Although the apartment is on three floors, we didn't have trouble navigating the stairs and Simon helped us with the luggage. The property is right in the heart of Pienza and it's a delightful village. You can see the church tower from the bedroom window. (The bells do toll several times a day but I loved it.)
We couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay while visiting Tuscany.
This beautiful cozy agriturismo gave us the perfect countryside Tuscan ending to our busy 3 week tour of Italy. Our rooms were nicely decorated, the outside had many beautiful flower pots & fruit trees surrounded by olive trees. We were happy to slow down & enjoy the pool & other guests who were there. Our breakfast basket delivered to our patio each morning was a nice touch. We loved the quite countryside.
Perfectly located extremely close to Pienza and within very easy driving distance to Montepulciano and Montalcino. This very spacious villa includes all modern conveniences away from the hectic atmosphere of the big towns. It is contained within a working olive farm and winery. Valentina and Martina are excellent hosts. Travelling with a young family, this was the absolute highlight of our time in Tuscany.
The location could not be beat. It was the most breathtaking location for a hotel I’ve ever ever been at. We felt like we were in a castle surrounded by velvet green hills made of vineyards and olive groves. I love photography and this was just a dream come true. The staff were incredibly helpful and kind. Breakfast was delicious. They even gave us fresh flowers to celebrate our anniversary.
We stayed in several towns throughout France and Italy during our trip and this was our favorite by far! The room was incredibly spacious, clean, had wonderful views, friendly staff, and a great breakfast each morning. Having a car is a must at this location, but well worth it. This was our home base for four days as we explored the hill towns of Toscana.
Perfectly located for day trips around Val d'Orcia. Wonderful hosts. Pienza is underrated. Amazing local hikes and restaurants. We loved being within walking distance to Pienza so in-town visits and dining without worrying about parking or night time driving. Spacious studio with comfortable bed, great wifi.
Hotel is located just outside the old centre of Pienza. Two minutes walk to the old centre, and a good base to visit cities like Montepulciano and Montalcino by car. Excellent breakfast, it's lovely to sit on the terrace while the sun shines and the birds sing. Free parking. Clean rooms. Airconditioning.
Location was great, just a short walk away from Pienza center. The staff was very welcoming. The rooms were clean, large and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent with amazing pastry items. The hotel property is beautifully kept and landscaped.
Stunning property but what was really memorable was the service. Some of the nicest people we met during in Italy, the host and her daughter were so kind and accommodating! Also a fabulous breakfast spread every morning :)
The location just down the hill from Pienza is incredible. The breakfast was really good and Jessica was an outstanding host. Really glad that we stayed at the Agriturismo Marinello during our stay in the Val D'Orcia.
The location is fantastic with typical tuscany hills, with behind background the famous town of Pienza.
If is a relaxed weekend you are looking for, the this resort is the right choice, both with friends and family
Fantastic place to stay in Tuscany! Everything was wonderful and a great location to all the lovely wineries. Walking distance to Pienza which was great.
