Good skiing with everything you need within close proximity.
Good skiing with everything you need within close proximity. However, if you are looking for an authentic Japanese exeprience, you are not going to find it in Hakuba. There are a lot of foreigners and many of the establishment workers are foreigners as well.

The buses to get to other ski fields and around Happo One...
The buses to get to other ski fields and around Happo One are somewhat confusing but it seems that there are more buses than on the timetables so that is a bonus. Many lifts start at 8am, so ideally one would have breakfast at 6:30 so one could get an early bus, but may be a challenge finding accommodation that does this.

It’s a ski and snow lover paradise.
It’s a ski and snow lover paradise. A small town with not so much city vibe, but best for snow or ski experience. It’s the idyllic charm that stands out for me. Everything u need for snow and ski experience is available there, for rent or to buy.

Snow was great, the town was very cute.
Snow was great, the town was very cute. Most of all, it wasn't that busy and lift have good space. Plenty of slops to choose from, and great restaurants, shops to go around after ski. Especially onsen was one of the great thing to add after the ski!

Hakuba is great and very welcoming.
Hakuba is great and very welcoming. The people and food are amazing. The skiing was great given the snow levels were lower than normal. The only thing to keep in mind is the bus service, while convenient can get crowded and does not run as much as it maybe should. A car would definitely be a great asset to have.
Anise Garden is a lovely place to stay. The owner, Nanjo, was very kind, friendly and welcoming. He let us know where all the Snow resorts were located and always there to help us. Rooms were cleaned regularly and always warm even in the Winter cold. The accommodation is also well located (6 minute drive to Happo One and 9 minute drive to Goryu & 47). Echoland is also a walkable distance and a very quick drive. There is also a very nice private indoor and outdoor onsen on the property to enjoy after a long day of snowboarding.
A cosy and beautiful Victorian style house in Hakuba.
The owners, a Japanese couple are very kind and we felt very well welcome: as the temperatures were still fresh, the fireplace was lit on in the living room and we were offered tea and delicious fresh French pastries - what a treat!
Our family room was very nice and comfortable, and we all slept so well!
We wish we can go back during another season (summer and/or winter).
Location is very good too as it is in the heart of Echoland near many facilities.
The lodge is one of our favorite places in Hakuba.
even though the facility is not new it has everything for our needs. Separate bedroom for adults, bunk beds for kids, kitchen with seating area, bathroom, and a very clever made dry room for skiers.
The location is perfect for skiers. It is close to the ski rental, Pub, and chair lift ( 7 min walking distance to the chair lifts).
as guest of the lodge you get coupons to use the Onsen at the hotel next door, which is a great place for Onsen lovers.
Our family loved this property - the rooms were very spacious and the breakfast was wonderful. Plenty to choose from. We especially loved the onsen and the yakata outfits worked very well. Ski room worked perfectly too. The manager and staff were very helpful too and it was perfect for getting to Happo ski lift. Also the hotel had a bus to take you to Hakuba47 which worked perfectly. The manager was happy to pick us up on arrival and take us back to the bus station on leaving.
Mickey and Mary were amazing hosts! They really do care and that starts even before you get to their lovely little place in Hakuba. They cook up amazing breakfasts that change every day and they are willing to go the extra mile and shuttle you to and from the nearby Tsugaike ski resort. The rooms are generously sized for Japanese standards and are clean and comfortable. I would recommend anyone wanting a ski holiday in Hakuba to stay at Summer Leaves.
We had a lovely time. The location was wonderful and Markus was very helpful with recommendations for ski/board hire etc. Our room was gorgeous and the it is a beautiful B&B with lovely amenities. They are very well set up for snow sports, with a separate entrance and a place to store all your gear. Very close to all the restaurants in Echoland, but was quiet at night. The perfect blend! We would love to stay again if we go back to Hakuba.
Staff were super accomodating and friendly. Location is excellent (ski in ski out). Accommodation was comfortable, warm and breakfast was sufficient for me and my family to have us all energised for a day on the mountain.
Would definitely choose petit hotel again when staying in Hukabu.
Also one of my sons left a pair of his shoes behind and staff have been super helpful in arranging to returning them to us via post.
the owner of the hotel really nice. They tried their best to make us comfortable. they picked us up from hakuba station and the last day they take me to bus station and helped us with luggage . and if they go out to run sth the same time i go out for ski they will take us to ski resort. overall their hospitality is beyond our expectations. if i ll back to hakuba I will stay with them again
Amazing Japanese hospitality and very knowledgeable hosts. I was originally planning on snowboarding at Happo One but because conditions were not great, they recommended Hakuba Goryu and it was a perfect day on the mountain. Hosts were also able to recommend a great dinner spot which capped off a great stay. Looking forward to coming back to Hakuba and staying again!
Paul was SO accommodating - willing to give us a ride into town, to the slopes, to the place to ship our gear, etc. Customer service could not be beat. The breakfast was more than I was expecting - a daily free hot breakfast of eggs, meat, toast, etc. I highly recommend it! It was a very short walk to the ski lift for Happo One - easy to get on the slopes.
Yoshi was a welcoming, friendly and very helpful host, who offered to pick us up and drop us off before / after our stay. Location is great - 10 minuite walk to Echoland and 15 minuite walk to either Happo One or Hakuba 47 (2 minuite walk to 47 bus stop). Very good value for money for a ski holiday. Room was clean and tidy when we arrived.
Perfect location for skiing in the day and going to restaurants/bars at night. Right in the heart of Echoland, which is where you want to stay in Hakuba. The hotel has everything you need and the staff are very helpful. I also like the general vibe and style of the hotel. Stayed here twice now and would stay again!
Large comfortable room with 3 king single beds, the onsen, the breakfast , the friendly and helpful staff, the ski gear locker in the drying room dedicated to our room, close to Echoland restaurants and the hotel is the first stop on all the shuttles to the ski resorts. It was the perfect place for a ski holiday.
Decent Japanese breakfast, quite a short window though, so make sure you get there on time. It's an old 80's/90's hotel, lots of wood panelling, but clean and convenient. Daily shuttles to and from the slopes, good ski drying room. No complaints. Nice in house onsen for hotel guests, wonderful way to end the day.
Our stay at Hotel Soyokaze was one of the best parts of our trip to Japan. Takao was very friendly and helpful. The private onsen each night after skiing was amazing and something we looked forward to every day. The location was also perfect to get the shuttle buses to the ski resorts and near a convience store.
The hotel is right at the base of Happo One....ski in and ski out. Incredible location. Everyone was more than friendly. You'll find the atmosphere in the restaurant/bar is incredible.....we were treated like family and nothing was too much for anyone to do for us.
It is very clean and surprisingly spacious for Japan standard. The location is excellent, just a 5 minute walk to Happo One ski resort and to the bus terminal as well. The onsen, although not big was a bonus in the hotel. The staff were very welcoming and helpful.
Amazing Hotel with excellent delivery to and from the ski lifts at Happo One and Iwatake each day.
The breakfast menu was great and the room size was very good.
The in-house Onsen was very clean and relaxing.
The staff was really helpful and took us to various locations when we needed to. There was also a daily pick up after ski at Happo one. The rooms were small but really nice and cozy.
best perk of the hotel is staff going out of their way to support your requirements. specially Anis San and Sakuran San. 10 min walk to the guryo ski resort.
