The 2nd-largest city in Portugal's Algarve region after Faro, Portimão is best known for its beach resorts, sandy beaches, turquoise waters, and ochre cliffs. It offers a variety of shopping malls, restaurants, nightclubs and bars. Don’t miss the fresh grilled sardines, a typical local dish.

Portimao was a pleasant town to stay in. It's biggest draw is the beach, shopping/restaurants and doing a trip to the Benagil Caves. There is a cute little "train" ride that you can take as well. I feel like there could be a lot more that could be done promotion wise. Maybe some sight seeing tour booths along the main avenue. We came into town by train and used Bolt to get around. Easy to use!

There is a lovely boardwalk with a fabulous beach .
There is a lovely boardwalk with a fabulous beach . There are lots of places to eat along the way. Not suitable for someone with a disability as there are lots of steps to navigate to get down to the beach . I ate in a different restaurant every night. The food was good and not too dear. There are lots of little shops to peruse and people are very friendly. I would reiterate that the steps down to beach are not suitablle for someone with mobility issues

Night time Portimao was very quiet, Pria Da Rocha is the place to go, good number of restaurants and bars to choose from, some with bands on.

The location for the race circuit was perfect.
The location for the race circuit was perfect. Nice neighborhood and fairly quiet. Be careful of stray dogs or dogs in other properties if walking around. Security of the gates is good, however the windows (most) don't lock. The kitchen utensils are basic and the kitchen itself. The shower heads are loose and hard to control. Lighting outside wasn't working and bbq was basic. There is a bus stop at the end of the road about 200 mtrs.

The beach was great and there were plenty of shops and restaurants in the area. There is a bus from the beach area to the central square but then you have to walk a short way to the train station. Having a train from the beach to the train station would be excellent.

Beautiful place with beautiful people and wonderful nightlife and beaches all in all, just be weary of the local drug dealers on the main strip they are highly irritating and can be pushy if you don’t interact with them they leave you alone
Nice hotel for one night stop over to watch Tour of Algarve. Easy walk from the train station in an area that felt nice and safe (I am a solo female traveller) Room was good, bed comfy, bathroom all good. Self selection breakfast had everything I needed. Staff were friendly and stored my bag during the day and I collected it later in the afternoon to catch the bus to my next destination. Couldn't have gone better. Nice reception staff even let me charge my phone in the lobby after I picked up my bag. Would stay again
Great location near the beach in Portimao. we had fantastic views of the ocean from the balcony off our room. The facilities had a resort feel and were top-notch. A very expansive breakfast buffet was available every morning! Truly something for everyone! We didn’t sit by the lovely pool, but many guest did. The hotel was an easy walk to many great restaurants. The staff was very helpful. We loved our time in the Algarve and wished we had stayed here a few more days! We would definitely stay at the Jupiter Hotel again!
Fabulous Breakfast. Location is fantastic, right in front of beach and close to all amenities. Staff is very helpful. One of the managers noticed our family admiring the old pictures of the hotel near the stairs and walked up to us to explain us the history of the hotel. On the day of check out, not only we were able to store our luggage but also use the hotel shower and towels after spending the day at beach before heading out to the airport. We enjoyed our holidays and will definitely return soon.
perfect location surrounded by the strip, the beach and plenty of shops and places to eat. friendly staff that were available on WhatsApp pretty much 24/7, our electric went one evening and someone came to fix it just 5 mins later.
we stayed on the 12th floor and had a lovely view of the beach. the only thing would be I wish the balcony would have had sun on it it was shaded all day. otherwise everything was perfect. will be staying here again next time we come to Portugal.
Everything ! The staff, the grounds of the hotel, the breakfast is the best we've had in Portugal. The beach nearby is a beautiful and excellent beach ! We love everything about the place. I just wish it also has a ensuite with kitchen then it will be perfect ! The price is unbeatable. This is by far the best price, staff, breakfast and location we've had in Portugal. We will definitely return here when we return to Portimao !
- Great location right on the beach with direct access and pretty beach views.
- The breakfast buffet was pretty good, with nice fruit and some nuts (although walnuts were poor quality and most likely not Portuguese [Portugal produces excellent walnuts, so a much better source], and the almonds we sweetened flakes - plain whole Portuguese almonds are tastier and healthier.
- Staff were friendly and mostly helpful.
I loved how the communication was very effective. I was even offered transport from the airport to the apartment. Liza was very friendly and caring, probably one of the best hosts I have come across since using booking.com I will definitely book again when i come back to portugal. The apartment view was beautiful I must say i was quite surprised because you can watch the sunset from the 10th floor.
Location was great, barely a 5-minute walk down to Praia do Vau, from where you have the amazing beach walk which you can take all the way to Praia da Rocha. Friendly and helpful staff, breakfast is fantastic with a lot to choose from. Lots of restaurants within walking distance, and if you like seafood, the best one is located just next to the hotel! Would definitely come back.
We chose the apartment as it was close to the Algarve Race track and it was perfect. The apartment was spacious with a balcony giving views of the track, Portimao & the ocean. The facilities were great as well as the mini market. The hotel staff were most helpful & organised with arranging transport of our motorcycle from the hotel to The Netherlands. Wonderful place to relax.
An amazing place to stay with so many outstanding touches. The decor and cleanliness were the best we’ve seen staying in Portugal. Very friendly and accommodating staff. The breakfast was amazing and worth the stay. Great location 300 ft from the beach. Parking onsite. We’d love to have this kind of hotel wherever we stay!
Really positive things: breakfast selection, swimming pool area, helpful staff, size of room, free parking.
Hotel itself is nice and worth of 4 stars, just as seen in the pictures that it's not the newest building, but otherwise totally worth it. Location is close to the beach and the city of Portimao.
The place is a little heaven of relaxation. Our room had a little terrace and a private bathroom. It was very clean and they also cleaned it every morning, which we were not expecting. The owners are lovely. This was one of the best stays of our Portugal roadtrip :)
Good clean hotel in an awesome location. The panoramic elevator was a special touch. Wonderful professional staff who do go the extra mile to help out their customers in their hour of need. Decent dining options offered.
Great location with close access to the beach and nice restaurants. I would stay again, but only during the week. Portimao is a nice city and the beach was huge and had great restaurants on it.
Very nice hotel, pool and the view at the Marina was amazing. Breakfast was very good as well. Not sure about the kitchenette in a 4 star hotel but it came in handy. Overall a great experience.
