The staff were amazing! Super friendly and attentive throughout the resort, the entertainment staff are fantastic - Noah still misses his "amigos". The rooms are clean and comfortable. Dining at the hotel was a delightful experience with diverse and delicious options. I’m confident your stay will exceed expectations and provide memorable moments.

We really enjoyed the overall experience and Luis was wonderful when we checked in. The room was clean and had a comfortable bed with a balcony which was nice to be able to sit out in the morning and evening. The acceptance of our dog was great and she had ample space to walk in the grounds area.

A lovely town with great restaurants and bars, shops and some lovely old buildings. Good public transport links - train, bus and boat - to nearby towns, villages and beaches. It can be busy, but it has a nice relaxed atmosphere.

Tavira is nice, but the stones polished by decades of cars and foot traffic made the sloping sidewalks/roads feel almost treacherous. This is not the location to get away from freezing rain. Some of the old area in the east side is undergoing upgrades to the water system, which means it may be dusty.

Cute little city full of 70 year old tourists.
Cute little city full of 70 year old tourists. Few restaurants other than Indian food. Little shopping. Beaches nice but very difficult to access. Pararia do barrill involves street parking then walking a half mile to a train which will take you 1 mile to the beach for 2eu each way. Or you can walk on a slanted broken walkway all the way. At the beach there is one overpriced restaurant.
Overall Tavira is Not family friendly at all.

We are scoping out retirement options so were looking for walkability and reliable public transportation. Tavira offers both! Local market is full of fresh meat, fish, fruits and vegetables along with wares such as baskets and cut flowers. Lots of restaurants and shops. Walking distance to train which we took to the eastern border then hopped a ferry to Spain for lunch. We opted out of the hotel breakfast and found a cafe across the river for coffee and avocado toast one day, another day we went to the Pingo Doce grocery store for coffee and a breakfast sandwich. We tried a different restaurant for dinner every night and every meal was fantastic. If we had to do it over again, we would not have rented a car. The metro, train and bus system is reliable and comfortable as well as much cheaper and less stressful.

Loved the Friendliness in this nice quaint old town, unfortunately the roads / streets were in process of being dug up & left rather unsafe ( we witnessed a lady falling).. lots of cobbled streets which were left unfinished. Hopefully they will complete soon for travellers & residents to enjoy this lovely town.

Tavira is full of character and has an obvious love of its history and heritage. It offers the opportunity to have a beach holiday without it being forced upon you. Wander down all the back streets and find new places.
We mostly self-catered but there are many restaurants with differing cuisines. Take a punt - it will probably pay off. If you like octopus take a trip to Santa Luzia just 3km away. It is a charming fishing port and the octopus catching centre of Portugal
Tavira House is described as a "boutique hotel with historical elements." While the property itself is impressive, many of the appointments do not match this description. That said, the staff were welcoming and accommodating. The breakfast service was good, and the hostess went out of her way to provide foods for our personal allergies, which is stellar. Once we were moved from the first room assigned that was on the street with doors and windows that did not shut or lock to an interior room on the patio, we felt safe.
Stunning hotel , best location as in a cute square surrounded by lovely restaurants and cafes within a 1 minute walk from Roman bridge and centre of Tavira. Beautifully presented rooms and stylish ,artfully presented breakfasts with delicious baking / cooking and service, tranquil yet friendly.Every single team member went out of their way to be thoughtful , friendly and considerate- really top level .Run to book here, it’s truly an oasis of quality and style. Plan to return 🌻
The apartment is very spacious and beautiful. We loved the balconies on each side and how close it is to the beach and restaurants. We had such a wonderful welcome from the host and his mother . She drove me to a supermarket in Tevira to get provisions. This kind of empathetic welcome and hospitality is simply unique but we found this in many places in Portugal. Such warm gentle people. We look forward to returning very soon.
Our experience was fantastic! We received a warm welcome upon arrival and were given a thorough tour of the facilities. We particularly enjoyed the common area and the kitchen. Although the weather was too chilly to use the pool, it was still very relaxing to be there. We had a great time grilling by the pool. This was the best place we stayed during our trip to Spain and Portugal.
Cosy hotel, managed by a family (I think) very friendly.
Comfortable well taken cared rooms also spotlessly clean.
The breakfast was fantastic with a little bit of everything.
The pool area is quiet, with an well maintained garden surrounding.
The hotel is pet friendly which is a plus!
In resume: not a 5 star hotel but a really great place to stay.
I will definitely come back!
Very nice small hotel, with a good location close to the dock where the ferries go to the island beach. Loved the town of Tavira, so charming, nice walks along the river. Rooms are maybe a little dated but immaculately cleaned. Breakfast was great with good options, outside seating available. Hotel has a restaurant, open for dinner, and it was popular.
Location was superb. In the middle of Tavira, which is a beautiful city to walk in. Hosts were great. Helped w bags. Room was perfect. Restaurant downstairs (same owner) was wonderful. Best steak in years (ribeye). Great staff. Lovely outdoor dining. Lots of other places to try in town, but this one “O Castelo”, was the best.
My friend and I really enjoyed our stay at this hotel! Everything was just excellent, the facilities, the breakfast, etc. This is the best hotel we have ever stayed at before and we will surely come back in the future! If you are looking for a fabulous hotel in the Algarve, don't look any further. This is the place to be!
Hotel is in a great location, close to Tavira town, easy to get ferry across to the beautiful island, walking distance to bus station. Staff are super friendly, welcoming and helpful, hotel itself is beautiful with a lovely pool and grounds. Breakfast was plentiful, great choices, attention by Chef at all times.
Good breakfast, very friendly owner and staff. Great location in the center of the charming town (definitely one of the best towns to stay in Algarve), free parking available in the street in front of the hotel or nearby, lots of good restaurants in vicinity. I would definitely choose it again.
Everything! Jose is excellent and made us feel welcomed from the first. His attention to detail is incredible. The place is clean, well furnished and within a short walk to almost everything in town. If I’m ever in Portugal again I will definitely be staying here again.
The buffet breakfast was excellent and the hotel location in the hilly countryside has lovely views. The reception has maps available of some nice walks in the area. The local town Tavira is about 10 minutes drive away and there's a ferry service from there to the beach.
Really nice location, beautiful views at the beach and a very quiet spot away from town. Direct boat access to Tavira Island was convenient. Walking trails around the salinas were an unexpected bonus, especially if you’re into birding (great birding in October!!)
Beautiful clean and modern hotel in the perfect location wth a nice traditional Portuguese breakfast. The staff is exceptional and the value is amazing. Tavira is stunning, one of the most charming towns I have ever been too... can't wait to come back!!
Exceptionally clean, simple and quiet accommodations. Brother and sister team handling front desk were very, very kind. Highly recommend. Brother is an Architect and sister an Attorney so very good contacts should you be considering a move to Portugal!
The hotel was very close to the center of the town, restaurants and ferry to the beach island.
We had a standard room with view over the town and it suited us well.
Very tasty fresh oranges were served at breakfast.
It is very beautiful And tasteful, like a 'boutique' style hotel.
The pool and surrounds are lovely.
Nice simple breakfast on the terrace.
Easy access to Tavira and all the restaurants to eat
Rustic Portugal construction. Beautiful grounds pool tennis court. Nice staff, exceptional. If you are looking for an experience you have it here. Very clean
