The staff were great, always very helpful and friendly. The hotel was well located, just on the edge of the french quarter it was within easy access of the main attractions, however, it was quiet enough to still offer an escape from the hustle and bustle of Bourbon street. The hotel was clean and smart and had an interesting history. The courtyard was beautiful

FAQs about hotels in New Orleans

Getting its Rhythm Back

The home of jazz, intriguing New Orleans evokes images of Louis Armstrong, wrought-iron balconies and mouth-watering Cajun cuisine. Louisiana’s largest city, the Big Easy is the beating heart of the Deep South.

Dance down Bourbon Street, where jazz saxophones ring out of traditional bars mixed with more colorful nightlife and entertainment venues. There are several New Orleans hotels near Bourbon Street, spread around the French Quarter with its distinctive Creole architecture.

To the south is Jackson Square, dominated by St. Louis Cathedral. Horses and carts wait patiently by the square, and locals set up their stools and start playing catchy tunes. Just behind is the legendary Mississippi River whose waters are still plied by paddle steamers.

From the river you get great views of the CBD (downtown) skyscrapers and the Louisiana Superdome. Booking.com has several hotels nearby, including some on Canal Street, where streetcars and the famous New Orleans Mardi Gras carnival pass down.

In the northern suburbs is New Orleans City Park, one of the oldest US parks and larger than NYC’s Central Park. Waterways lining it flow into large Lake Pontchartrain bordered by a bayou.

Do NOT go in the summer, 94 deg F and 90% humidity way too hot for all the walking. Public transport is reasonably priced at $15 a person average or less, with a variety to choose from. Be careful on excursions, they are not always what they are advertised. Be sure to visit the WW11 Museum..plan at least a full day. SOME OF THE FRIENDLIEST PEOPLE I have ever met. Of course food and things to due are unlimited. Take your WALKIN SHOES. On a scale of 1 to 10.. it's a 4 for ADA accessible.

The Arts District was very nice, and once a month, there is a "white linen night" kind of like a First Friday Arts event. We were there for the Satchmo Fest, which was amazing for jazz/world music and culture lovers. NOLA is a place, if you are oriented with a tour - that will be very helpful in getting around and prioritizing what you want to see/do. Our favorite spots to visit were NOMA and the Treme area, although the French Quarter was great too. We saw a concert at Preservation Hall, which was fun. I would say our favorite cafes, pubs were in side streets, and we were not that fond of the Bourbon Street night scene, although during the day the area is dotted with cute cafes and bookshops. It is close to do a bayou alligator swamp tour, and if you are without a car (which I recommend since parking is very steep) bus transport can be organized. Overall, the city is a friendly place with the Southern hospitality, and I would be back in a heartbeat.

The French Quarter has changed in the 40-something years I have been a resident and visitor. The people are different and they party hard! August was a nice time to visit because it wasn't very crowded. Restaurants have Coolinery specials on 3-course dinners that are a great way to try new foods. We ate at Broussard's and Lula Distillery. Visited the House of Broel Fashion and Dollhouse Museum. Walked along the river at the Moonwalk. Saw a Broadway-quality musical at Tulane's Summer Lyric Theatre. We were in the room by 9 pm each night or dropped off by a Lyft at the door to our hotel.

It is very easy to get around in New Orleans and the vibe of the city is great. The Jazz Cruise Creole Queen is amazing with a dinner option. Another great experience is Airboat Adventures - Swamp Tours. The Aquarium is also very cool and of course Bourbon Street.

Bourbon Street and the bars were what I expected, however, I didn't sense an urgency by the businesses or the police to make the location safer and more tourist friendly. Homelessness abounds there and the wreak of weed and drugs were apparent everywhere. A little more pride, investment and love for the city of New Orleans would be great for the tourism there. The food is quite good in many places, but overall, you could get tired of this area very quickly. The music and bars were great on Frenchman Street.

Modern stay that returns you back in history of New Orleans at the same time. It really exceeds the expectations. The room was very comfortable with everything you need. Every day the room was cleaned and the staff were super polite. The location is also excellent, especially because of the walking distance to the downtown, business district, Caesar's Superdome, Bourbon Street, Mississippi River, French Quarter and the majority of other famous parts of the city.

Very stylish, well situated about a ten minute walk from the French quarter. Loved walking across Canal Street and diving into the historic area of New Orleans. Rooftop bar is a lovely oasis and place to have cocktails and watch the sun go down. Parking was expensive at $55/night plus tax, but in line with what you’d expect in NOLA. Staff were very helpful took good care of the car and made the experience stress free.
