The suite was nice and the beds were very comfortable. The apartment had two bathrooms, a big living/working area, and a full kitchen. The breakfast was good with many different options from eggs and meat to pancakes and pastries. The place was big and we enjoyed it. The location is great, quiet, and not far from the center area.

FAQs about hotels in New Orleans

Getting its Rhythm Back

The home of jazz, intriguing New Orleans evokes images of Louis Armstrong, wrought-iron balconies and mouth-watering Cajun cuisine. Louisiana’s largest city, the Big Easy is the beating heart of the Deep South.

Dance down Bourbon Street, where jazz saxophones ring out of traditional bars mixed with more colorful nightlife and entertainment venues. There are several New Orleans hotels near Bourbon Street, spread around the French Quarter with its distinctive Creole architecture.

To the south is Jackson Square, dominated by St. Louis Cathedral. Horses and carts wait patiently by the square, and locals set up their stools and start playing catchy tunes. Just behind is the legendary Mississippi River whose waters are still plied by paddle steamers.

From the river you get great views of the CBD (downtown) skyscrapers and the Louisiana Superdome. Booking.com has several hotels nearby, including some on Canal Street, where streetcars and the famous New Orleans Mardi Gras carnival pass down.

In the northern suburbs is New Orleans City Park, one of the oldest US parks and larger than NYC’s Central Park. Waterways lining it flow into large Lake Pontchartrain bordered by a bayou.

The best restaurants are NOT in the French Quarter.

The best restaurants are NOT in the French Quarter. Go to Magazine Street. Also, don’t get taken in by the street hustle regarding “where you got your shoes”. Several random hustlers doing it. My husband was suckered and before he knew it, they had poured a thick soap or some other substance on his sneakers. Had to walk around all day with stains on his shoes until we washed them later. Anyway, Bourbon Street is literally an open sewer so one walk through is more than enough. The WWII museum is incredible. It’s a must-see. Plantation tours were vastly different. Oak Alley seemed to glorify the ways of the old south, emphasizing the grandeur of the house, offering mint juleps, etc. The Whitney Plantation was an accurate and heart wrenching depiction of what enslaved people endured. I wish I could have taken the admission I paid to Oak Alley and given it to Whitney!

NOLA is an Interesting and fun place to explore!

NOLA is an Interesting and fun place to explore! I've been there three times and still haven't seen everything I wanted to. Check out the Saenger for evening shows, buy your tickets early! Head toward the Aquarium and the adjacent mall for any shopping needs. Buy a Jazzy Pass to get around using streetcars, ferries and busses.

I love the city of New Orleans.

I love the city of New Orleans. The people are friendly, and the music is great. Then don't let me forget to mention the food. Everything was good even Panda Express taste better than mine from back home (Tennessee) lol. I didn't feel uneasy there of course I was watching my surroundings when out. In my opinion it's not as bad as people make it seem. I'm a single female who traveled solo to meet some friends. I felt just fine walking around by myself before I met up with everyone else.

Do the ghost tour & swamp tour.

Do the ghost tour & swamp tour. Listen to the locals when they tell you were the best places to eat specific food is. They're always 10/10. I would come back just to do brunch at Ruby Slipper again. The people of New Orleans are the salt of the earth and their kindness is infectious even to us often cold northerners.

The hotels location was absolutely incredible could not have asked for a better place in that regard the ambience and character were wonderful. It is an older hotel. That is well taken care of with a wonderful interior courtyard. The staff was amazing and overall, I really liked it and would go back myself. One other thing they have parking about a two minute walk from the hotel, which is a real plus. The only issue we had was there was no elevator at this hotel, and it was not prominently announced when you reviewed it on the website. I was traveling with a family member with severe COPD and we had to traverse three flights of stairs to get to our room. I had sprained my ankle several days before on our trip and it was a severe sprain and getting up and down those stairs was very difficult. If you have any issues with breathing or mobility, this is not a place for you otherwise I would recommend it wholeheartedly.

(Senate) Front of house service was exceptional! His knowledge of New Orleans French Quarter was on point. My wife and I found his tips and recommendations extremely helpful during our stay while we were on holidays from Australia in September. If only more front of house managers were like him. The property was tidy and felt very welcoming. The cleanliness of our room was very pleasant. The outdoor garden area is a great addition to be able to unwind after spending a busy day on the streets of New Orleans.

The location, staff, breakfast and facility are the best. All the staff are very friendly and ready to help with anything. The room was very spacious with a kitchenette. The hot breakfast was very generous. check-in and check out was quick. If you plan to take a cruise, the location is the best for both walking distance to the French Quarter and walking distance to the cruise port. It is in a very safe and quiet area. One the best hotels that we have ever stayed.

This hotel is a great location for visiting the French Quarter of New Orleans. The valet parking was very convenient albeit somewhat expensive at $48/24hr period - although this seems to be the 'standard' price in New Orleans - there was no extra charge for coming and going as many times as you like. The 'standard' room was fine. It had a safe and a small fridge. The self-service buffet breakfast was great - we were given complimentary breakfasts each morning.

The Balcony Guest House is the PERFECT place to stay in New Orleans. Between the very authentic and full of nice bars and delicious restaurants Bywater and Faubourg Marigny neighborhoods, very close from the French Quarter, the Mississipi river, Treme... It was quiet but we had everything we needed once in the street. It is very easy to check-in/check-out. You are totally autonomous but the staff can be as well really available if needed. I highly recommand !

Amazing mattresses and the pillows are awesome...very comfy sleep! The location is great because it's on the fringe of the French Quarter -- we walked there and back -- and a quick cab ride to Garden District. Great restaurants are nearby (walking distance) as well. Love their Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwich tradition everyday between 4PM - 5PM. Charming and Old World hotel. When you walk in the lobby, it feels like you're in a European grand hotel.

I liked the thoughtfulness and convenience of this hostel. The fact that there is a fountain to fill water bottles, free breakfast, 24/7 access to tea and coffee, a bar/restaurant attached, an aesthetically pleasing and comfortable lobby, staff recommendations for how to enjoy New Orleans, flyers re: Mardi Gras activities, the location to the French Quarter, public transit, and drug stores (for emergencies.)

Andy at the front desk is fabulous. She is full of information in adventures as well as the history of the house and New Orleans. The location was excellent. 1 block from cable cars in between the Garden District and French Quarters. Food nearby & a drug store. The main house was nice. The parking is a lot right next door, which makes it easy. The lot is light up at night with a security camera.

The location was excellent, very close to transportation, the French Quarter and all the New Orleans' tourist spots. The staff was very helpful, the hotel and room was very clean and exactly as advertised. The breakfast was good, if not special, with hot and cold choices as well as 24/7 coffee.
