Loved the Friendliness in this nice quaint old town, unfortunately the roads / streets were in process of being dug up & left rather unsafe ( we witnessed a lady falling).. lots of cobbled streets which were left unfinished. Hopefully they will complete soon for travellers & residents to enjoy this lovely town.

Tavira is full of character and has an obvious love of its history and heritage. It offers the opportunity to have a beach holiday without it being forced upon you. Wander down all the back streets and find new places.
We mostly self-catered but there are many restaurants with differing cuisines. Take a punt - it will probably pay off. If you like octopus take a trip to Santa Luzia just 3km away. It is a charming fishing port and the octopus catching centre of Portugal

We've become familiar with Tavira after several visits over recent years. It is a lovely understated destination as a living, breathing 365 days a year town. Not at all touristy, though popular and busy, it's a great base for a sunshine and beach holiday as well as easy access to Spain and onwards. A wide spread of bars and restaurants gives plenty of choice for evening entertainment, and all within short walking distance.

Tavira is a little gem of a town. There are tons of things to see and explore. People are friendly, the food scene is beyond incredible and the city is completely walkable. If you're looking for a small, quite, charming town then Tavira is the place.

Tavira is a very relaxed and beautiful place to visit, the atmosphere was friendly and there were lots of restaurants for all budgets. We were there at the end of April and the temperature was ideal for us, in the low twenties. The beaches were easy to get to and huge so even in high season I think they would be fine. You are a short train ride from Faro and there are other lovely villages nearby to visit. Plenty of walks and bike tracks for the more active mostly all on the flat so not too energetic! This is a resort for couples and families rather than those looking for lively night life but for us that was a positive!

Tavira is definitely one of the most picturesque and unspoilt towns in the Algarve. So far, it has escaped the mass building of apartments that now plague other places. But, unless you have a car, I'd recommend staying in the centre! Local transport is not very convenient, though trains to other towns are good. There's lots going on, though perhaps more geared towards adults than youngsters! Plenty of restaurants and cafés and the Clube de Tavira is a good spot for some local jazz on a Thursday. Bear in mind it's not directly on the coast - you need to take ferries to the islands nearby, but that's fun if the weather's good. Not so much if it's wet and windy 🙄. Bike rental is another good option. Another plus is being so near Spain - a trip to Seville is only a couple of hours away! My tip - if you're not with a car, don't stay on the outskirts, unless you just want to be by the pool all day! It's a long and boring walk into town! Do visit the little olive producer just out of town. At time of my visit, nearly the whole town was undergoing roadworks which meant half the streets were closed to traffic and all the cobbles and paving were up, making for dusty and uneven surfaces. Just beware!
Hotel is absolutelly fantastic. Located on top of the hills. Beautifull view. Countryside. Orange trees. We walked through them. This place have special energy. Silence. You fill so relaxed. Other people who come to this place were positive, polite, friendly. Hotel staff is so kind. They pay attention to each visitor. Super kind and positive people in restaurant. All of them. At breakfast, lunch and dinner. We filled so welcomed here. Delicious food. Excellent dinner. Definitely will come back on my next trip to Portugal.
So charming peopel running this! I came there in the evening and it was just a welcoming athmospher. Though i wish i was in a more social state of mind myself, it was just what i needed. Mark were amazing in his way to connect and push me in the right amount in the yoga. And it might have been a tip i got from him that acctually saved my health. Next time i go visiting portugal i will bring my daoughter to go see them so she can feel this atmosphear. AND they have a dog Sultan!! and he is amazing! he likes to be brushed.
I was very pleased with Ana, Miguel and Magda level of hospitality and they always made me feel warmly welcomed. I felt very fortunate to stay at this location
I could not have asked for anything better as my first place I stayed on my two and half weeks journey in Portugal. It was the perfect welcome after a very long trip from Seattle to Lisbon and then immediately caught the train at the Oriente station Lisbon to Tavira. Thank you, Foksa Guest House!!
This is a surprisingly large hotel - you'll get your steps in for the day just walking to your room and back! The underground car park is free and also massive. We parked near the entrance and then discovered it was a long walk to reception. And it was a long walk from here to the dining room. But the room (view over the pool) was large and had all the necessary facilities. It was only a short walk from the hotel into the centre of Tavira.
The hotel is ideal for visiting Tavira; centrally located and surrounded by good restaurants with a short walking distance to the ferry that takes you to beautiful beaches. Miguel is a charming and helpful host who serves a lovely breakfast from a menu to order including fresh squeezed orange juice and local, fresh pastries! Comfortable bed and hot shower. Really nice rooftop deck/patio from which to relax in evening or enjoy coffee in morning!
This is a great traditional bed and breakfast hotel, located centrally within the old town. My room, on the first floor, had a lovely balcony, an interesting view onto the street, and much needed aircon. It was also close to cafes and good restaurants. I'd recommend Tavira as a great place to stay - it seems more genuinely Portuguese - than other places on the Algarve - something l really appreciated.
Cosy hotel, managed by a family (I think) very friendly.
Comfortable well taken cared rooms also spotlessly clean.
The breakfast was fantastic with a little bit of everything.
The pool area is quiet, with an well maintained garden surrounding.
The hotel is pet friendly which is a plus!
In resume: not a 5 star hotel but a really great place to stay.
I will definitely come back!
All the staff at the reception very profesional and friendly - 10points for them all! Hotel has so beautiful views to Tavira, location is near to everything (specially ti the best restaurants in the town).
Breakfast is good, and the pianist amazing. The pool is great. Perfect place for relax.
Definitely, we recommend this hotel!
Lovely and relaxed little hotel on the river. A perfect location for wandering around Tavira or catching the boat to the island from across the street. Warm and welcoming staff and a great breakfast included. Really good value for money. We'll stay again.
Lovely modern hotel. Friendly staff. Excellent food. The large swimming pool with plenty sitting areas if you want your own space. The shuttlebus to Tavira and Cabanas, where you can get the local train if you wanted to venture further along the Algarve.
We loved the décor of this hotel, so funky! It was new and very clean. Great location in old town, close to great restaurants and shopping. Very walkable to everything. Parking very convenient. A nice boutique hotel!
Super complete and great breakfast, nice pools and space around it, cosy room with balcony, very clean, with wonderful view to the sea and sunrise on it.
Would and will recommend this hotel to friends who visit Tavira.
Excellent breakfast selection and staff very welcoming, helpful and attentive. Hotel within a short walking distance of local restaurants and amenities. Tavira is a good base from which to explore the Eastern Algarve.
Great location for visiting Távira. Close to restaurants. The hotel has a restaurant. Very clean. The hotel has character, old fashion and yet all modern amenities. Excellent breakfast. The staff is very welcoming.
Geraldine, the owner, was such a delight. She seems to truly love hosting. The breakfast was the best in our 4 weeks traveling throughout Portugal. She gave us great tips for beaches and restaurants.
This was the best accommodation I stayed in while in Portugal it was immaculate with a great outdoor space and fantastic location it was very well looked after.
Rustic Portugal construction. Beautiful grounds pool tennis court. Nice staff, exceptional. If you are looking for an experience you have it here. Very clean
