Great location on Chapel Street. Restaurants, Tesco & shopping within walking distance. Really helpful and friendly staff. Option for cooked breakfast comes with the cost of the room + coffee, tea, yogurt, fruit, and cereal items too. Friendly and helpful staff. Front desk helped us get a taxi, which was very nice. Overall good experience.

Artist Residence Cornwall, hotel in Penzance

The unique and original rooms at the 17th-century Artist Residence are each uniquely designed in an eclectic, rustic style, with a curated collection of limited edition artworks throughout.

I liked the artwork and the decor of the inn. It was very convenient to have a lounge for an early breakfast or evening dinner/drink. The staff was very friendly. The bathroom was great with a heated towel holder and rainfall shower. I also loved the natural lotions and soaps that were free. The room was quiet and the bed was very comfortable.

Easy self-check in even though we arrived late at night. Mike, Ally & Elvis are wonderful hosts. Mike recommended lots of places that we shouldn’t miss in Cornwall. Fabulous town, it’s got culture, it’s got architecture, it’s got a great rugby club, it’s got a busy harbour’ it’s got great cafes and restaurants, a stunning promenade and a lot more besides! Check out what’s going on at The Acorn Theatre which is brilliant. For a shortish trip see what’s on at The Minack. Best beaches are Sennen, Porthcurno, the Lelant ones, the St. Ives ones, Hayle Towans and Praa Sands. Perranuthnoe beach is good at low tide. Go to St Ives by train - the view from St Erth into St Ives is breathtaking !

Glad we got tickets for the Minack Theatre and explored the Gobal Telecommunications Museum, took the Coaster bus several tiimes, including to Land's End and walked the Coastal path to Sennen. Enjoyed the Penlee art gallery, especially in the midst of reading "Summer in February." Enjoyed a meal at the oldest pub, and at the Longboat Inn. The staff at the Info Centre were the best - gave us so many tips and set us on the right buses.

i like walking on the promenade, along to Newlyn, took the Mounts Bay coast path to Marazion, took the bus to Trengwainton gardens- lovely to see the magnolias, rhododendrons and camellias - interesting walks round the gardens and a lovely cafe with friendly staff and good food. Visited Trewidden gardens by bus and also took the train to St. Ives- a lovely scenic run along the coast. Penzance town has a nice selection of shops and it is worth exploring the back streets and the area round Chapel street. On previous visits have been to the Morrab gardens and other parks. Penzance is easy to walk round, has a good bus service and the tourist information staff are very knowledgable and helpful.

Went in the end of February, it was a quiet time with everything closing by 10pm, and last buses leaving early, but it's just as lovely if not more so as any other time of the year could be. Even for hiking, if you get ready for the wind, the rain, the fog, the mud and the cold.

A five star stay with Ali and Mike and Elvis the dog . They were gracious hosts, the room was excellent in decor size cleanliness. I can’t remember ever having a better stay, both myself and Steph my wife would like to thank our hosts for a great stay and a much needed break. We would like to congratulate them on achieving the no.1 slot of all the guest houses in the Penzance area for quality and value - a well deserved accolade for all their hard work. Can recommend Holbein House to everyone thinking of staying - five stars ! ***** 😀

THE ROOM WAS HUGE ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. LOVELY BED. NICE VIEW OF THE SEA. THE HOTEL IS LOCATED IN THE MOST HISTORIC STREET IN PENZANCE WITH LOVELY ANTIQUE SHOPS AND NOT FAR FROM THE HIGH STREET AND WITHERSPOON JUST AROUND THE CORNER. LOVELY PUB DOWNSTAIRS WITH MUSIC ONCE A WEEK. THE STAFF ALBEIT A HANDFUL WERE EXCELLENT THEY ALL HAD TO CHIP IN TO DO VARIOUS JOBS DUE TO SHORT STAFF AND DID EVERYTHING WITH A SMILE AND WERE SO HELPFUL. A very nice older building with well appointed rooms. Very close to the waterfront and great walks back to Penzance and Newlyn, where there were some great seafood restaurants. Close to St Michaels Mount, just remember to check the weather as you may have a bumpy boat ride in front of you. The hotel is easy to access and while parking is in the street, there is no problems finding a spot near by.

A hidden gem. Lovely little hotel, friendly staff, well served by buses to Penzance, Marazion, St Ives, Hayle, Land’s End et cetera. Right by the beach, and a beautiful walk along the coast path to Penzance or Marazion. Breakfast delicious and plentiful. Room facilities including toiletries, tea and coffee and towels plentiful. Good food in the bar in the evenings.

The decor of the property, in the lounge, bedroom and staircases was just beautiful. A lot of thought has gone into it for sure. Also the service was amazing in terms of checkin process and receiving new/clean teabags and towels etc. This was our first hotel stay in Penzance and we wouldn't want to stay anywhere else now that we've been here.

Very cosy house. The owner thought of everything, the house has all you need for the holiday with family or friends, plus it’s pet friendly. This was our third time in Penzance, but first tending a cottage instead of hotel, and we will stick with cottage offers from now on :). Strongly recommend!

I loved the Gulval location - on the edge of Penzance, easy to walk to the centre of town, but a real village atmosphere. Friendly staff, popular pub but not noisy at night. We walked to the Tremeneere sculpture park (lovely, but I think it's more than the three miles they say on the sign).
