Great public transport facilities mean you don't need a car. Lots of entertainment and dining opportunities in Melbourne, and excellent outlets for shopping at every level. I highly recommend an unassuming Italian restaurant in Little Collins Street called Lupino. Great food, terrific service and charming waitresses! In Melbourne to visit our daughter which took up most of the short time we were there but did get a chance to go for some walks around the Collingwood/Fitzroy area which we loved, full of good bars and restaurants. Also the Fitzroy and Carlton Gardens which are lovely. Then there was Friday night at the NGV which is always a treat, this time it was the Impressionists exhibition.
