We really enjoyed our 2 night stay and would have been happy to extend it given the opportunity. The room was clean spacious and comfortable and given that they are built around the courtyard it felt as if we had our own patio outside.
All the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming and the food was well presented and delicious. The location in a peaceful country hamlet between Blandford and Wimbourne was perfect for a relaxing break and very dog friendly. An absolute gem.

Blandford is quite a compact medium sized town with good restaurants and easy access to shops. The Morrisons carpark leads to a lovely park, riverside walking area. It is an interesting, historic location; midway between National Trust properties, such as Clouds Hill, the house where Lawrence of Arabia lived and museums, such as Bovington Tank Museum. Dorset is a beautiful county with seaside and country locations.

Blandford Forum is a small country town with plenty of character. There are lovely walks by the river, some very charming pubs and places to eat. The main Hotel the Crown has Live music and a terrace to enjoy a drink. The town has interesting quotes carved into the pavement and some attractive historical buildings as well as a market on Thursday and Saturday, and lots of little interesting boutique shops.
If you are looking for old-fashioned charm and a quiet retreat with occasional entertainment, this is the perfect place for you

Blandford Forum town centre is needing a bit of TLC like many English towns now.
Too many charity shops which is a sad reflection of local council management.
Wonderful town walk down to the river Stour though.
A few interesting restaurants would be an added attraction for all generations, as well.

Winterborne Houghton which is actually the village we stayed in. Blandford Forum is a 15 minute drive away. Houghton is a very pretty village with lovely gardens and houses. Lots of thatched properties. There is a fish farm which sells delicious fresh trout and Arctic charr. There is a pub which was very nice but we didn’t eat there so I can’t comment on the food. We walked to the pub, about a mile. Very friendly people.

It's a lovely town with a great museum, scenic river walks and nice cafes, restaurants and bars.
One thing to be aware of is that public transport is limited at weekends. There are no bus services to Shaftesbury or Salisbury or Yeovil on Saturdays and Sundays.

What a great hotel! Beautifully decorated. Perfect location in the gorgeous historic town of Blandford Forum.
Food was delicious. The staff are exceptionally friendly. Honestly wish other hotels could provide the same level of service. We will definitely be returning.
This place was excellent, clearly newly renovated, it was imaaculately clean, really comfortable and so much better than a small hotel room.
The gold metal work and gold grount in the kitchen was a nice luxurious touch as well.
Absolutely the best b&b I have stayed in. Wonderful owners who went out of their way to ensure our stay was perfect. Thank you for the Oat Milk! 😊
Blandford is a good base for exploring the coast and some pretty towns.
