Bognor is a fairly traditional seaside town.
Bognor is a fairly traditional seaside town. There is a large Butlins camp there but this does not dominate the town. There are a good selection of cafes etc and more practical shops in the town but it is a relatively quiet place - does not have the razzmatazz of Brighton which is why it appealed to us! We felt very welcome.
We felt very welcome. Bus drivers,people we asked for directions on the street,cafe and restaurant staff were all really helpful and friendly. The sea was calming and beautiful,though choppy on the day we arrived. Beaches were endless, and clean....we walked and walked. There were lovely Georgian buildings to see,some now hotels,some sadly neglected maybe from lack of funds. The pier could be developed wonderfully but is only partly accessible...again probably funding is not there. The town museum is a little gem! I know the area very well as mother lived here for the last 30 years of her life. Felphams still fairly nice but sadly Bognor itself has become quite run down over the years. Would not spend much time in the town itself. Had to go in the evening for a function but would not choose to generally. Didn't think much of Bognor itself especially the town...
Didn't think much of Bognor itself especially the town centre. The sea front is okay with the usual beachfront cafes and ice cream kiosks once you get past Butlins going towards FELPHAM it is much nicer and quieter (for us older folk) all the beaches in the area are pebbly and not very sandy, but there are plenty of green areas and seats and quite a few very colourful beach huts. We did catch a bus from FELPHAM to Littlehampton and used our bus passes which was a very pleasant journey we called in at Weatherspoons for a fish and chip supper which was very nice and also cheapGuest review byCAROLUnited Kingdom

We had a sea view room and you can easily hear the sea. The staff are friendly and efficient. The swimming pool (just a pool, no sauna etc) operates on a booking system where you have a 30 minutes private session which was very good to relax in at the end of a long day. There are several cafes/restaurants a short walk from the hotel and the delights of Bognor are about 15 minutes walk away.
