Holiday Inn Coventry M6, J2, an IHG Hotel, hotel in Coventry

Holiday Inn Coventry M6 Jct.2 is a contemporary hotel close to the city center with multipurpose meeting and event facilities, fitness room and an onsite bar and restaurant.

The staff member that checked us in and out (same lady) was wonderful. She didn't know I'd just come from a funeral, and was patient with me as I checked in on my own, with my little one asleep in the buggy, and I couldn't remember half my details. And was very warm, friendly and had a great sense of humor as we checked out and my toddler was tearing around the foyer. Please pass on my thanks.

FAQs about hotels in Coventry

The Legacy of Legends

Southeast of Birmingham, Coventry is best known for the shell of its old cathedral, a poignant reminder of the damage sustained during World War II. Part of its northern wall joins the new Modernist cathedral, designed by Sir Basil Spence.

In the neighboring gardens, there are remains of an 11th-century Benedictine monastery set up by Lord Leofric. His wife, Lady Godiva, became Coventry’s greatest legend by riding naked on horseback in protest of her husband’s high taxes.

St. Mary’s Guildhall is built on part of the old castle, and Baginton on the city’s outskirts houses the reconstructed Roman Lunt Fort. Coventry Airport is also here, by the Midland Air Museum, where the exhibits include a Vulcan.

The Coventry Transport Museum has great examples of vehicles manufactured in the city over the years. Another point of interest are the canals north of the city's center, lined by historic buildings. Other attractions include the Warwick Arts Centre – the UK’s 2nd largest – and the Ricoh Arena, home of Coventry City FC. The Sky Dome Arena is an ice hockey and music venue, while the best shopping is found in Arena Park Center.

The city has 2 universities and tons of bars and restaurants. There are also several Coventry hotels, guesthouses and country houses on Booking.com, most with parking and some with pools.

    I wasn't actually in Coventry.

I wasn't actually in Coventry. I was attending a weekend conference at the University of Warwick. I had two nights accommodation there and needed an 'early bird' night which wasn't available in the conference venue, hence my stay at The Old Mill - which was recommended to me. A downer for me though is the complex road system around Coventry - multiple roundabouts!

Started off well and breakfast was excellent and the staff were excellent. Due to personal issues I had to leave a day early and when I questioned a refund was given a shrug of shoulders and a goodbye. An opportunity to maybe transfer that paid night’s accommodation to use at a future date would be more accommodating. I won’t return or recommend to this hotel.

My father was a Coventry lad so I have relatives here.

My father was a Coventry lad so I have relatives here. I really enjoy staying in Coventry - it is centrally based for so many things - Stratford-on-Avon, Warwick Castle, and Kenilworth, to name just a few. The city, itself ,offers the Cathedral and the Motor museum which are both well worth a visit. It is seven years since my last visit and I was very impressed with the beautification of the centre of the city. It has turned a pretty bland 1950/60 shopping space into an attractive place that is an asset to the city.

It's a funny place - a mixture of new and old - but I love it. Whatever you do or don't believe, you absolutely must visit the cathedral. Start in the ruins and walk through to the new cathedral; it looks quite plain inside but, when you get to the far end, turn around and you'll find it really is a box of jewels. Herbert gallery definitely worth a visit, Holy Trinity and St. John the Baptist beautiful too. Lady Herbert's garden is a must as well. I'm gluten-free, so the Golden Cross pub is perfect for me; cafe Italia is also great. I still have no idea how the bus network works... would a simple diagram be too much to ask? But the centre is very walkable, so you may not need this anyway.

CHLOE at the reception desk is an absolute STAR 💕 she went above and beyond when we checked in to give us suggestions on what to do, where to go and even went to the extent of writing it all down for us. The perfect smiling, personable face that you want to greet you after a long journey, a great first impression for the hotel. We travelled a lot of England and Chloe was our highlight. We were extremely tempted to invite Chloe for dinner and drinks, heck she can even be invited to my wedding. She is a phenomenal. She needs a pay raise.

Quiet country location. Beautiful grounds well away from the city centres Birmingham and Coventry but close enough for access. Near enough to the NEC which was the reason I booked there The other hotels near the NEC had limited availability and bumped up prices. This wasn't exactly cheap but better value.

The location was perfect for exploring the Cathedral and Art gallery and city centre. The interior of the hotel was much more upmarket than the exterior suggested.
