This is a challenge to answer. The Scotch Arms is a lovely 1600s building(s) that was incredibly well restored. (My partner is an architect, and he said the owners spared no expense in the restoration.) It was a delight to be in such a beautiful treasure of a B&B. The question is difficult to answer because complimenting the wonderful physical establishment is, Dianne, the warm, friendly and knowledgeable owner/host. She gives everyone a warm welcome. On this trip we are staying at 7 hotels/B&Bs, and the Scotch Arms stays in our minds as one of the best on this 20 day trip.

The location was ideal for our purposes, having set off from Bowness On Solway for a weeks cycle trip this was our first stop, The owners and staff could not have been more helpful or considerate to our needs, The evening meal and breakfast were superb, well cooked and ample portions a good choice of beer and Guinness, If you are in this area this is the place to stay.

I'm so happy I stumbled upon Charlotte and her amazing house on Hadrian's Wall. She welcomed us into her house, fed us with the best food we had in two weeks traveling in England, and sent us on our happy way walking the wall. It's located next to the Priory and within easy walking distance of the wall. I can't say enough good things about the stay. I'm not typically a BnB person - but this one fit our needs perfectly. Take advantage of Charlotte's hospitality while you can!
