Excellent hotel. Stayed in a suite and good value. Staff are a credit to the hotel. Always feel welcome when I stay here. The hotel is spotless, the three mile pub is a lovely pub, spacious with nice staff, pool table , dart board, and nice food. The hotel is a bit further out from the centre so better value. Only 10 - 15 min walk to metro with trains every 10 mins or so , nice quiet area and cost about 14 pounds to get a taxi back after night out at Sam fender concert. Will definitely be back again and if there is parking at the hotel if driving. Good base if staying for a few days.

It is an excellent modern hotel. Very good breakfast and Wifi. Central location. The hotel staff was extremely caring making everybody happy. Particularly outstanding was Victoria at the front desk who helped us with numerous inquiries, and went out of her way to help my partner with exploring a place for a hair cut/ hair coloring needed before an upcoming wedding. Excellent stay.

FAQs about hotels in Newcastle upon Tyne

The Spirit of the North

A former Industrial Revolution hub, Newcastle has reinvented itself into a vibrant, forward-thinking city. Although no longer brewed here, Newcastle Brown Ale, or Newkie Brown, is synonymous with the city, so it’s no surprise that the nightlife is fantastic.

From the O2 Academy to the Sage Music Center, the Newcastle music venues are among the best in England. The city also has a thriving arts scene, including The Biscuit Factory – Britain’s largest original art store.

Equally as good is the Newcastle shopping. The Central Arcade is in an attractive Victorian building, and across the River Tyne in Gateshead is the Metro Center, Europe’s largest shopping and leisure complex. Indeed, these 2 cities have a healthy rivalry that plays out in sports, architecture and, sometimes, the bizarre.

Gateshead boasts the Angel of The North, a huge statue that is already its most recognized (and controversial) symbol. While in Newcastle the Vampire Rabbit sits above a door near St Nicholas’ Cathedral. Newcastle United Football Club has the most prestigious record, but Gateshead Stadium has seen many a star compete at its international athletics meets.

To the west of the city are some remains of Hadrian’s Wall and further north is Newcastle Airport. See Booking.com for a range of accommodations all over this happening city.

Great things to see in the city, and close to Hadrians Wall and Roman towns by train and bus. Discovery museum is a must. And food!! Some of the best food we've eaten at restaurants and wine bars, and it was Restaurant Week - aim for that if you can!

We really enjoyed visiting the Biscuit Factory which was a short walk from where we stayed. It had a very extensive exhibition of contemporary art. Lovely staff who were helpful, friendly and very welcoming. We also discovered it had an excellent rooftop garden terrace cafe, again with friendly welcoming staff and a very good range of fresh food to choose from at reasonable prices for the quality. Jesmond is a lovely, safe locality. With lots of interesting walks around and a small but interesting shopping area with some busy but lovely cafes. We found the shopping areas especially Grainger Market well stocked with fresh fruit and veg, some vintage and other interesting shops.

Very Friendly city with the centre being built largely in Georgian style. Football ground in centre of town, close to attractive University complex. Shoppers paradise and impressive quayside alongside the river Tyne.Excellent art gallery and natural history museum. Both quite central and close to famous Grey Street. Plenty of pub and restaurant choice.

The city centre location is perfect beside the train station and top notch restaurants. The staff are so helpful, friendly and calm. We booked a family room, while it was compact, it had a great design and used every inch of space well. We stayed in room 519 which had the most excellent view of Newcastle. The room and beds were very comfortable and spotless. The shower was compact but had loads of hot water and good pressure. The breakfast was casual and very tasty. In short, the perfect hotel for a city break in Newcastle.

Good location with a bus stop outside the hotel with regular buses into the city centre and a 10 minute walk from the Jesmond metro station. Excellent value for money with a well appointed en suite room at the rear of the building. A complimentary continental style breakfast was included in the price with basic offerings but a reasonable choice given its inclusion in the price of the room. Would definitely stay there again if visiting Newcastle.

Ah sure, what a grand stay I had at the Grainger Hotel in Newcastle upon Tyne! From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with warmth and hospitality that made me feel right at home. The double room en-suite was spotless and cosy, with all the comforts a weary traveller could ask for. The location was spot-on, just a stone’s throw from the heart of the city, making it perfect for exploring the vibrant streets and local attractions. 🙂
