I liked the hotel the moment I set foot in it......looked very warm and friendly . My room had a patio right on the gold course, beautiful scenery. Food at the bar was very good , hearty breakfast, and very friendly staff, all at your beck and call. A big well done. If ever I happen to visit Edinburgh again, I will definetely stay at this hotel.

Peebles Hydro offers a beautiful setting in gardens, in the border town of Peebles. This charming, historic hotel features an indoor swimming pool, a spa, a gym and restaurant. I've been visiting this hotel for decades and was rather fond of this grand old lady but four years ago I had horrendous food poisoning and vowed never to go again. But after a wonderful swim lunch with great food last weekend we immediately booked a night's break for two and it was beyond exceptional. The refurb is superb and we had an excellent spacious and beautifully decorated room with a luxurious bathroom with a view to die for! The food is almost haute cuisine and beyond our expectations - just need a little more yogurt for breakfast as the healthy options were in high demand. We'll be back for sure!

In the heart of the picturesque market town of Peebles, The Tontine is a family-run property which provides home-baked sweets and shortbread and elegant rooms. Everything. Great room with a view. Great breakfast. Extremely friendly and accommodating staff. I requested an iron as there wasnt one in the room and the maid brought it to my room together with the ironing board exactly at the time I needed it. Id definitely stay again.

I was very pleased to be given two rooms near each other and with 5 beds as requested. No issue on that score. The lighting in the room was poor. Fancy modern lights might look good but not if they dont light up the room

An deal place for older people - so many independent shops of all kinds with good restaurants and cafes without much walking. Also short drives to other beauty spots However, I know there are splendid facilities for younger holiday makers too with loads of beautiful country walks, cycling etc We used to take our children there when they were young and they loved it.

Lovely riverside walks which we enjoyed. Locals were very friendly and helpful. Town has lots of bars and restaurants which are close together on the main street. We had a really good weekend and will probably be back.

Nothing really stands out as fabulous, everything was nice enough but for me not enough to highly recommend. For the prices being charged I was pretty disappointed with my stay. Thank goodness for the local life five minute's drive down the road. Peebles hydro offers a lot, but delivers very little when you're actually there.

Peebles is a lovely town with many and varied Independent shops. Plenty of eating and drinking establishments. Locals , friendly and informative. Excellent setting amongst rolling hills and woods, walks along the Tweed most relaxing. Would recommend especially for those of a certain age and disposition. There is an activity centre for more energetic. Can’t wait for next visit.

We stayed as a family of 4 to spend a couple of days biking at Glentress. The hotel is in a beautiful setting. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, the kids loved the swimming pool, they had bike storage and a fantastic cycle way to the trails. Nearby Peebles has some lovely restaurants. Breakfast was good once you had actually been allocated a table (they are obviously struggling with staff shortages as we queued 30 mins + one day). But overall a cracking place, perfect for a family activity break!

It's a lovely place to stay, quirky and comfortable. We ate dinner in the bar which was very cosy. The breakfast was great, good coffee and a nice selection of fruit and bakery items and we were brought toast while waiting for the cooked breakfast. Lovely dining room overlooking the garden. The hotel is well placed at the end of Peebles high street and is handy for a stroll around the shops and a walk along the river.

The hotel is just a short walk from the town centre and in a good location. We had a spacious, well appointed room overlooking a lovely beer garden. The room was spotlessly clean with a large comfortable bed. The staff were courteous and friendly and the food was value for money. We would highly recommend staying here and will certainly do so again the next time we are in Peebles.

The hotel is in the perfect spot for seeing Peebles. The staff can not be praised enough. They were all so friendly and could not do enough to make your stay a perfect one. The food was amazing and I had breakfast, lunch and dinner. The location of the property was perfect. Out in the country but reasonably close to Edinburgh, North Berwick, Peebles and many more. The breakfast was lovely and the food in the restaurant was nice and not overpriced. It was nice to be able to use the pool and there are some great walks from the hotel too. The staff are so friendly, the rooms are lovely, yes some of the hotel is still a little tires but this is improved year on year. The facilities are great the staff cannot do enough for you. The food is good and has that fresh produce feel too it whilst remaining uncomplicated and tasty. And it is great value.
