Communication was excellent before and during our stay. Our room was lovely, clean, comfortable, warm and homely. Our room had a kettle and a good selection of teas and coffees. Our host gave us fresh milk on arrival. The ensuite was a great size, clean and warm and we were given plenty of towels. Our host was the nicest, we received a lovely warm and friendly welcome and that loveliness remained throughout our stay. Breakfast was delicious and served with the same warm and friendly manner we received upon arrival. Our host took an interest without being intrusive. The area is peaceful and our room has views of fields. No traffic. We visited nearby towns and found walks we really enjoyed, making it a great location. You can park outside the property which was an added bonus. Felt spoilt to find everything we wanted in one place.

Ross is a small historic town in a lovely position with views over the countryside from the higher part and walks and places to eat and drink along the riverside..The shops in the town are rather limited with lots of charity shops but there is an excellent bookshop and some antique and gift shops. There are a number of pubs and restaurants with varying menus. There are buses to surrounding towns and villages

A charming market town with lovely independent shops and very friendly locals. There is much to see and do in the area. Narrow pavements though so one needs to be careful. The King's Head in Ross is a good pub. A nice Italian restaurant exists in the same street just a few yards away. It is vital to book there as it does get very busy. Lots going on at the Corn Exchange and other venues in the town. A great place to visit and the surrounding countryside is stunning.

A beautiful town with great walks, good range of shops, historic buildings and in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Lots to see in and around the town. Good choice of restaurants and bars. It's on a hill, so a challenge for anyone with mobility issues. We loved the Sunday music programme in the riverside park.

We had a lovely visit to Tewksbury Abbey and the town on our way to Ross on Wye. During our stay we went walking in Symonds Yap then drove down for a brief visit to Monmonth. On another day we went on a very enjoyable 6 mile loop walk from our hotel. We would definitely recommend a visit to the Avellino Restaurant in the High Street. This area offers a lot to do and explore, surrounded by lovely countryside.

The King's Head, rather like Ross-on-Wye itself, looks a little tired in places, but it is an old coaching inn which has seen a lot of life! Everyone working in the hotel is very friendly and welcoming, and our room was comfortable. Plenty of hot water and a good bathroom is what you really want after a long day on the road, and that's what you get here. Even better was the restaurant where we had the best meal of our tour. It was faultless. The King's Head is obviously popular with locals which is a good sign too.

Castle lodge hotel ticks all the boxes that I look for when choosing somewhere to stay. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are comfortable, theres plenty of parking, but most of all the food is awesome. As a vegetarian it's great to have choices, and the quality of those choices is top notch. My favourite this time was the mushroom risotto, this is a standard vegetarian choice but the Castle Lodge version took it to a whole new level of loveliness. I would go back there just for that!

We booked Orles Barn after our original travel plans changed. I'm very glad that they did. If I return to Ross on Wye I would definitely stay here again. The property is spotlessly clean and very comfortable. It's an easy walk into the town centre along the river. The breakfast was the best I've had in a long time.
