It was convenient to the Blue Lagoon, just a few minutes away and the water plant is actually what feeds the lagoon and makes the water that unusual blue color. Locals joke about the fact that the water is anything but natural, just a side effect of the runoff coming from the plant. There had been a recent lava flow that was amazing to see and we really enjoyed the ATV tour that was also nearby. There's a beautiful dining room with floor to ceiling windows with a lovely view of the power plant chugging away, miles of above ground red pipes, etc. so very unattractive. We were advised to make reservations if we wanted to dine at Max's, which we did. Not necessary as the restaurant was also practically empty. It's a short ride to the airport.
Featuring a subterranean spa, a geothermal lagoon and a restaurant that re-imagines Iceland’s culinary traditions, this 62-suite luxury hotel is encircled by the Blue Lagoon’s mineral-rich waters.

Great staff, attentive and helpful. Beautiful location in abamdoned town, and driving through fresh lava to get here was amazing, even for somebody living just 30 m away.
So clean and perfect, amazing view and easy to get in side with keyebox on every cottage. Housekeeping and towels available up on request, and staff super kind and helpful.
Highly recommended, both to fellow Icelanders and guests coming from farther away.
Exceeded all expectations. Seems to be suitable also for pple recovering from mold illness, cir mcs and those sensitive to emf , you know who you are :)

The only thing that I liked was to be able to get into the room with a keypad.
Great location 10 minutes from the Blue lagoon. We stayed here on our first night in Iceland going straight from the airport to the Blue lagoon then checked in.
Not a lot here but there’s a pretty church here
Tip: don’t buy supplies in the airport shop - we stocked up & it cost us a fortune. There’s a Netto in Grindavík

Grindavik is a small, beautiful fishing village close to the Geldingadalur volcano (but not too close) and the Blue Lagoon. It has many excellent hiking opportunities and great restaurants. Grindavik is surrounded by a beautiful natural landscape. Whale-watching, fishing, mountaineering, very friendly people, safe environment, you name it, Grindavik has it all!

Great location for Meradalir.
Great location for Meradalir. Fabulous fish and chips at Papas - Grindavik is a fishing town, so all fish is fresh that morning. Lovely walking around the town. Very peaceful. Great for exploring south coast and peninsula. Only 25 mins from Keflavik.

We stopped for one night during our Iceland tour to visit the Blue Lagoon and Fagradalsfjall, the volcano that erupted in 2021 and is still smoldering several months later. Grindavik is a working fishing village with a few local restaurants, grocery store and pharmacy, so is a really good spot to stay for a day when touring Iceland. It is not touristy though so don’t expect lots of shops selling the usual.

This is a dock terminal terrible views, bad aspect for tourists, cabin super smaill no microwave, no waste basket in bathroom, nothing to sweep with, place is creepy, huge caping yard nezt to the property that makes it seem dangerous. Lonely area! For this price you can get a top notch place.

Grindavik is a lovely town with a huge fisherman history.
Grindavik is a lovely town with a huge fisherman history. It's super close to the Blue lagoon and volcano so, there are many options for hiking or relaxing. There's a grill place with a super nice man who told me a little about the history and life of Grindavik's people and he also sells awesome hotdogs. Wish I could've stayed longer but a huge storm came so I had to run away :)

A rough fisherman’s harbour, surrounded by factory and warehousing type of buildings but these grow on you and have a certain charm. It’s a good base for visiting the main sites such as Blue Lagoon, Reykjavik, (hikes to) vulcano’s, Reykjadalur thermal river, etc. There’s several restaurants at walking distance. There’s a nice playground on the campground next to the cabins. The cabins itself are modern, fresh and clean, fully equipped and well maintained.
Very comfy and cozy hotel close to Blue Lagoon. It's next to a Power station but don't let that put you off as it doesn't impact on the hotel and is quite dramatic at night when its lit up. Restaurant was excellent and honesty bar was a nice touch. Didn't use the shuttle bus to the Blue Lagoon as it only runs once per hour. Only about 20mins from the airport and easy to find.
Good place to stay for just a night. There is a restaurant very next to it (belongs to another hotel) so getting morning coffee or breakfast was easy. Other wise although a good place this property is located is sort of drab, industrial, Wearhouse looking area.
We wanted a reasonable and comfortable stay near Blue Lagoon. This did fit the bill perfectly.
