A good base for somewhere outside of Sorrento that is a little cheaper but with good transport links. From the port we got ferries to Sorrento, Capri, Amalfi and Positano. Castellammare di Stabia was the perfect location for our visit. Just outside of the main tourist locations, prices were very affordable but within the right distance allowing us to easily travel to Capri direct from Stabia Main Port, Sorrento in rental cars and Pompei & Erculano by train. Being away from the main tourist attractions, the location was not overcrowded and provided a stunning backdrop of Mount Vesuvius.Guest review byMegan B - 8.0

We were there in January, even that time it was a lively city. Regarding sightseeing, it was not really much to visit that time (like museums), but it is good for walking, shoping, eating, drinking. We couldn't use the Funicular that time of the year, but it is must otherwise for the spectacular panorama on the Gulf of Naples. It has good public transport. The location is great for visiting Pompeii, Naples and Sorrento and close to the train station.. The air conditioning was fantastic and really necessary in August. The owner was really helpful and accommodating. I would recommend it for visiting the area and beaches on the Sorrento coast, although we didn't swim in Castellammare.
