This was our first time in Milan and we were pleasantly surprised. There is so much to see with the beautiful Duomo and other sights. There is an excellent transport network with trams and metro and buses. Make sure to do any shopping before coming to Milan as Milan is full of exclusive top brand shops, so nothing is cheap. Summer is not the time to visit Milan. A lot of the attraction sites were under renovation and a lot of stores closed for the month of August. We recommend visiting Duomo di Milano and the Navigli at sunset. These were the best places we visited, even though the staff at the Duomo can be quite chaotic. Try Italian cuisine - pasta, pizza, gelato... Milan is a beautiful city vibrant and full of history. Its a wonderful location for a city break.. I would not stay longer than 3 days. Its also ideal to take the train to Lake Como which was in complete contrast. The weather was extreme. I dont recommend that you travel in August. The Catherdral was stunning.
