The rooms were very comfortable and exceptionally clean. I liked the central location and the access to the old city. My wife was not as keen on that and in fact was somewhat intimidated by the location. The staff, Roxanna and Vittorio were wonderful. Both were very helpful and kind and especially reassuring for my wife.

FAQs about hotels in Naples

Vibrancy, Vespas, Vesuvius

Undulating beside the Bay of Naples, this UNESCO World Heritage city is a maze of narrow streets and cable cars. Although it has an incredible array of churches and monuments, it’s the sheer energy, pulsating life, and buzz of Vespas that really make it exciting.

At first you could mistake this for chaos, but given time you’ll see there’s method to the madness. The stunning, curved portico of the Royal Palace. The perfectly thin pizzas which originated here. The red pepper trinkets to ward off the evil eye adorning practically every old town doorway. All are crafted to perfection.

While all this goes on at street level, below is Underground Naples – a series of tunnels you can visit and even a Graeco-Roman theater which you stop at before emerging into someone’s house!

Head up to the Posillipo area for stunning views of the city and Vesuvius in the distance. The volcano itself can be visited and looking down from it towards Pompeii and Herculaneum gives context to the thousands of artifacts now on display in the city’s National Archaeological Museum.

As for accommodations, Booking.com has a wealth of hotels near Naples Airport, old town B&Bs, city center apartments and more to help you make the most of your stay.

Naples is a vibrant, raw, colourful, gritty, chaotic city that doesn’t hide any skeletons! You are immersed in Neapolitan life. Fabulous food and culture. Almost too much to soak in. Great city break. Make it two centre if possible and chill somewhere quieter to relax after you’ve explored! We loved it. (Family of four/ two teenagers.)

Other than our BnB and maybe the underground tour, visiting this city was honestly the worst part of our trip in Italy! For one, it felt dirty and unsafe in the surrounding parts of the main station. The food was okay at best, caused stomach pain at other times, such as the "famous" Napoli pizza (do NOT recommend). The Pompei tour was so-so, and the underground tour was cool, but our guide ended it suddenly in front of a bunch of eager waiters trying to force us to their restaurants to buy their food. The Viva Toleda station was NOTHING worth seeing inside or outside the station, and you had to pay to ride the metro in order to see what was advertised online. We do not recommend going to Naples at all. Period. You can spend your time better in other parts, such as in the northern part of Italy or in Sicily.

As an older couple we wanted to visit Pompeii and the Old Town. We weren't disappointed. We booked the Pompeii & Heracleum tour, our guide was an archaeologist and took us through the ruins all day. It was amazing and well worth the effort. We visited the catacombs as well, its a must. Both visits require some stamina so get yourself prepared. On the third day we did the hop on hop off bus, a good way to see the city. We used the Metro extensively with no hassle's. We had dinner twice at the main square in the Old Town, it was a great experience, such a vibrant place. I which we had stayed longer.

You have to be prepared for the madness of Naples.

You have to be prepared for the madness of Naples. It’s loud, unapologetic but also amazing if you look deeper. I was told Naples has many sides and it’s up to you to find them, which is very true. Around every corner there is a surprise, or a story so take time to look and find the many faces of Naples ❤️ we had 3 days and did Pompeii, Vesuvius, underground Naples tour, funicular to Vomero and st Elmo’s for spectacular views of the city, lots of getting lost in the historic district. Lots of great places to eat off Toledo St - Owap Pizza was a fave. We found it quicker to walk than get buses and so much more interesting.

I had been warned about Naples.

I had been warned about Naples. It was very dirty with litter everywhere. Luckily our hotel was on the promenade in front of the castle so very touristy & clean in this area. The shopping areas were ok too, I loved the cobble streets. We used naples as a centre to visit Amalfi & Pompeii. 2 or 3 nights is more than enough to stay. We ate in restaurants along the promenade, couldn't fault the food. A little more expensive so we tried a restaurant a few streets in & again, beautiful food & a little cheaper.

We stayed 24 hours after 7 days in Sorrento, which we love. Very dirty city, we had read reviews saying so but didn’t expect such litter ridden streets. And just a general weird dirty smell. Local folk not so welcoming. Would not return to visit as do little to see just airport to Amalfi coast.

Very nice and comfortable small hotel, near to railway station. Really friendly and helpful presonnel, thank you! Breakfast was richer than in many hotels in Italy and was brought to our room. The bed was comfortable, not so hard. We enjoyed also our terrace. At first, the main door of the hotel was a little bit difficult to find but there was one of the personnel waiting for our arrival and helping us.

Location, Friendly, very secure. View from our room window can be seen on my channel- decrepit lion productions- YouTube. ( Naples - Italy section) Tremendous sunrises over Mount Vesuvius and of cruise ships. Taxi rank nearby and hot food at small cafes in local area. The property is amazing. Huge, well laid out for large family and/or group of friends (as many as 8 can easily sleep there). It’s in a lively area, typical of Naples. Great services all around, as is the case in Italy usually. Great connection to train, port, airport. Fantastic place!
