The hotel is really nice, Located at Scala which is 15 minutes away by a taxi or a bike to Amalfi beaches and center. You can still go down the hell with your feet but it will be a 30 minutes stairs journey. Food, Facilities and staff were excellent.
Offering mountain views, Villa San Lorenzo in Scala offers accommodations, an open-air bath, a garden, and barbecue facilities.

Quaint and beautifully decorated. More affordable and gives more value than staying in amalfi directly. Staff was kind, the breakfast was good, the view is beautiful, and it is connected to an old church.
Just one mile from Marina Grande Beach and 1.1 miles from Duomo di Ravello, Sky House Amalfi Coast features accommodations in Scala, with a terrace and a shared lounge.

Views from the location were beautiful. Also a variety of good restaurants in the area to choose from. There is a SITA bus that can take you to the main Amalfi port where you can basically bus to anywhere on the Amalfi Coast for really cheap and avoid very expensive taxis.
Providing city views, Rianna Rooms & Breakfast in Scala features accommodations and a bar. This bed and breakfast offers air-conditioned accommodations with a balcony.

The property is Beautiful. Very well kept and quite a site. It has an amazing view, pool, and great atmosphere! You need to walk 8 minutes thru a beautiful path where you see the grape 🍇 vines and lemon 🍋 trees. You see the goat and lambs farms and, despite the walk.(though Amalfi itself it’s a place for walkers. You need to understand that you will need to walk everywhere, so it is part of the charm of the place). I think is quite an amazing place to visit.
The primal factor that will make this place worth staying at the is the people that work in Villa Ami. Imma , Lucia, Clelia, Tiziana, Armand ( owner), they are AMAZING! They treated me like a King! Their breakfasts were excellent and prepared as you like, with the European cuisine style. The owner baked a DELICIOUS cake every single day for breakfast, and I mean those cakes were better than any I have tasted. One of the guests apparently got sick from an existing condition, and the staff was on top of their care! Many of my friends told me about their experiences in much more accessible and exclusive hotels , and they all envied my stories and my experiences in Villa Ami because they did not get the Royal treatment I had.
I have been in many places in the world and this is a memory and experience I will share and cherish all my life!

Scala — A Hidden Gem Facing the Glamour of Ravello
Scala — A Hidden Gem Facing the Glamour of Ravello
Scala is a small, charming village nestled just across the valley from the more famous and glamorous Ravello. But don’t let its modest size fool you — Scala offers something truly special: a breathtaking, postcard-perfect view of Ravello itself. In my opinion, staying in Scala and looking out onto Ravello is even more magical than staying in Ravello and looking out from it.
The village is peaceful, authentic, and has everything you might need within easy reach — a grocery store, a pharmacy, a local hairdresser, and plenty of warmth from the locals. Despite its tranquility, Scala is home to some truly exceptional accommodations, especially Ravello View and Hotel Zi'ntonio, which offer comfort, hospitality, and those unforgettable vistas.
Scala isn’t just a place to stay — it’s a serene haven with a soul of its own, quietly watching over one of Italy’s most iconic hilltop towns.

I would highly recommend staying up above the Amalfi coast as it's more peaceful and you can drink in the views every morning and evening. The restaurants tend to be cheaper too. It's not always easy though getting down and back up from the more coastal areas, so think about how you are going to do that every day before choosing to stay somewhere like Pontone, Scala, Minuta etc.

Scala is about 1/2 hour bus drive from Amalfi at a height of 360m. It is a nice and quiet village with various shops and italian bars. It is a relaxing place to stay not far away from Amalfi (for those who like the tourist chaos).
You can find there also so good restaurants to have a special dinner.

For a basic, relaxing holiday with the self-catering, local minimarkets and cafes it is perfect. The problem arises when you want to explore other areas as the public transport we found to be very difficult and stressful. We would recommend hiring a car (if you are brave enough for the roads) or relaxing into not exploring a huge amount.
We loved Da Pietro Caffetteria in Scala. Amazing quality food all from the local area and very reasonably priced. Also, Da Nonno Alfonso in Ravello was incredible too. Such a cute little place with amazing pizzas and dessert. One to book in advance though.
Our holiday was dampened by a lot of rain and thunderstorms so next time we would most likely avoid the time of year we visited (mid-September) and potentially try staying in Minori or Maori instead as these were beachfront with a greater variety of restaurants available - probably noisier and busier though.

Antonio and his family were exceptionally nice and the food served for breakfast and dinner were superb. It was close to the town of Scala where you could catch a bus or eat at a few different restaurants. We walked to Ravello in about 30 minutes which is a really nice quiet village to stroll around in. Nice place to take in the beauty of Italy

Nearby Ravello may be more beautiful, but Scala has more of a sense of community. Also, it was good to get away from the hustle and bustle of the coastal towns of Amalfi, Positano and Sorrento in the evenings, and have no trouble finding restaurants or places to drink. We found a lovely restaurant in Scala's main square, the Ristorante dei Cavalieri, which comes highly recommended. We ate there on three occasions as the food was of such a high standard, the service was exemplary and the cost very reasonable. I also ate at our hotel (Ravello View) on one night, and it proved to be the culinary highlight of our holiday. It was a Sea Bream with cooked vegetables, and it was superb. Located just two to three miles above the coastal resorts of Amalfi and Atrani, and across the valley from Ravello, Scala is a perfect location to discover the delights of the Amalfi Coast and beyond.

Scale is a great location and Hotel Villa Giuseppina is an affordable and comfortable option. We booked a room with a very large balcony which was a great place to sit and enjoy a drink. The room was comfortable - relatively spartan but functional and practical. The pool and area has plenty of room, pool is clean and plenty of umbrellas for shade. The room came with breakfast which was very good and the staff are all friendly and helpful.
This hotel has a wonderful location in Scala, a charming, little city. We had everything what we needed there, a wonderful view from our balcony and a typical very good breakfast with an amazing view too.
The staff is very nice, but very outstanding is Carla. She is just the best. She gives you the best tips for the authentic side of the Amalfi coast and is so wonderful heartwarming. Thanks again for everything. We'd love to come back.
An absolutely lovely, family run hotel. It was everything we hoped it would be and more. Spotlessly clean, absolutely beautiful views and amazing hospitality, Antonio and family were always on hand to help with every need, going far beyond what would be expected, from picking us up at the bus stop on arrival with our cases, to packing a (delicious) picnic breakfast this morning when we left early. We will be back!
The view from the hotel was breathtaking with a beautiful view of the morning sun hitting Amalfi each day.
Breakfast was fantastic with lots of options.
Staff were lovely and friendly and very helpful.
The walks down to Amalfi town and back up are challenging, but very much worth it. Wouldn’t recommend taxis down to the town as they were €70.
I had an excellent stay at this hotel! The service was outstanding, and the entire team was incredibly friendly and helpful. The view from the room was breathtaking, which made the experience even better. Highly recommend and would love to come back!
