I was truly surprised how good this place was considering the price. The room is very big and comfortable, and breakfast is varied and tasty. The city center is walkable from the hotel, around 15-20 minutes.
Located within the Roman city walls of historic Canterbury’s center, this family-run hotel dates back to the 16th century. It offers free WiFi, and a cozy, oak-beamed bar.

Location is perfection. Right in the middle of the old part of the city and a very short walk to the cathedral. The Family room in the attic was great, we opened the window and listened to the birds, there was a door between the master bedroom and the kids room which is always nice. Breakfast was lovely.
With a 24-hour front desk, this hotel offers free breakfasts and a modern restaurant. Holiday Inn Express Canterbury is located in Upper Harbledown, just outside historic Canterbury.

A lovely village with great pubs to have dinner in (we had an excellent dinner at the Red Lion) or stop just for a drink if you are exploring the beautiful surrounding country side cycling or walking. Don't miss a visit to Mount Ephraim Gardens (You could stay in one of their beautiful rooms and enjoy a lovely breakfast after a truly peaceful night's sleep). If you feel like hiding from everything go hiking in ancient Blean Forest, that takes you right back into medieval times and fairy tale territory. Or else just walk along the many orchards and snack on fallen apples and pears that are aplenty in autumn. This is the Kent of folklore and Hernhill is perfectly situated to explore this lovely area.

The room was lovely and spotlessly clean.
The room was lovely and spotlessly clean. The bathroom was a little on the cold side at night. The breakfast was good and the service was friendly - however after we left we noticed that we had left something behind. We left a message on the answerphone (the only option) and to date we have not received any answer...
