With a stunning location in Dartmoor National Park, this inn is set in the rural hamlet of Haytor Vale. Dating back to the 18th century, it offers fantastic food and free Wi-Fi throughout.

The location was perfect with easy access to the moors and Tors. There was plenty of storage space to keep clothes etc. The kitchen was superb and well appointed with plenty of pans for cooking and crockery. The bedrooms were a bit dark because of foliage growing across the windows.Would have liked a shelf to keep toiletries in the bathroom.Perhaps a bbq would have been good to have in the garden.

A quiet village off the beaten track but only a short distance from the trunk road (A38) through South Devon.
We dined in the Hotel. Superb walking on Dartmoor : the big Hay Tor granite outcrop is only 40 minutes on foot uphill from our quarters in the Rock Inn, or ten minutes drive plus 30 minutes walk if you are starting from the village.

Small village with few shops. The Indian restaurant was very good.
Accessible to lovely countryside walks from the village. National Trust Parke on the edge of the village follows the river with plenty of walks.
Situated on the outskirts of Dartmoor which offers wonderful scenery and plenty of Tors to hike.

What a lovely little town.
What a lovely little town. We walked around and found the most wonderful art gallery that had local artists displays and beautiful work of all kinds. The people were lovely all over and the town itself is very picturesque and easy to get around. Lovely cheese shop and little boutiques to keep busy visiting. Loved it!

We were a small group of walkers staying at The Dolphin for a few days, It turned out to be an excellent choice! Plenty of parking space (even for one of our number who arrived in a motor-home) and a very warm welcome. The rooms were clean, comfortable & recently refurbished especially the en-suites which were immaculate & appeared to be brand new. Tea & Coffee was provided in our rooms & fresh milk & drinking water was thoughtfully placed in a fridge on the landing. We all slept well after an excellent evening meal from the extensive menu followed by drinks in the bar.
Breakfast was served at sensible times, cereals & fruit juice followed by freshly cooked choices from the breakfast menu. All the staff were polite, helpful and cheerful. Nothing was too much trouble, all in all a superb small hotel with good facilities at reasonable cost located at the Gateway to Dartmoor which deserves every success.

As it says On the edge of Dartmoor, Bovey Tracey has a nice park that connects into a national trust park that has a nice circular walk this a nice café stop on the way for refreshments. the Bell inn id the best of the two pubs in the town and the Brookside café does a nice breakfast
Lovely sharing the field with the alpacas. All very peaceful and secure so children can go off on their own to explore and find the chickens and play area. Thoughtfully equipped. Recommend the well marked circular ‘Ant Trail’ through nature reserves at the end of the lane (also route to the pub and the children’s playground at Chudleigh Knighton). A short drive to Stover Cycle Path - to Bovey Tracey Swimming Pool or to Newton Abbot. Many thanks Josh.
The Cromwell Arms is in a great location for exploring Dartmoor. Our room was on the top floor and was huge and really comfy. A very generous, and delicious, breakfast was included. We also ate dinner here - good food and reasonably priced. All staff were really friendly and happy to help with anything we needed. Will definitely stay here again!
Great location with delightful views. Hosts couldn’t have been more helpful during our long stay. Quick (steep) route into town for shopping. Bovey Tracey is a great base for Dartmoor and the coast.
Bovey Tracey has a reasonable range of (non-foodie) dining and great shopping options including butcher, greengrocer, deli and cheese shop.
Brilliant location, very helpful friendly staff, comfy spacious bedroom and delicious food! I would be happy to recommend this hotel to others. From here we explored all over Dartmoor, drove to Plymouth (40 mins) and Torquay (30 mins) the location is excellent. And at night it was so peaceful!
The overall building (which is predominantly the new owner’s personal home rather than a hotel) is a beautiful building. It’s very close to amazing walks/rides (and the Parke Parkrun!) and within a few minutes drive/15 minutes walk of Bovey Tracey with good cafes/bakeries and small shops.
The Dolphin is a friendly and welcoming hotel and pub. The room we had was excellent, quiet and well equipped. We had a meal in the bar, and the staff were friendly and efficient. The food was good pub food, with some really good ideas. We would definitely go to the Dolphin again.
Quality of the dinner was excellent. The breakfast menu was good and the quality was good. Service in the restaurant was excellent. The whole ambiance in the hotel was extremely welcoming.
