Grasmere has a wealth of shops, bars, restaurants, tea rooms and art galleries. The famous poet William Wordsworth lived in Grasmere and now his home, Dove Cottage, is a popular visitor attraction where you can explore a bygone era, you can also visit his grave at the village church. Grasmere Gingerbread Shop is also a must when staying in Grasmere to enjoy a delicious sweet treat. Grasmere is a central base within the Lakes to enjoy days out at Keswick, Ambleside and Windermere or take advantage of the many fells right on the doorstep offering walks for all abilities. Grasmere and Rydal Water are both close by for picnics and watersports. Little Parrock sits on the outskirts of Grasmere at the foot of Helm Crag (known locally as the Lion and the Lamb).
