Property info

This wonderful traditional cottage that sleeps up to six guests is set up on the hillside above the Great Langdale Road and dates back to the 17th century. It is said to be the oldest property in Langdale. It has plenty of character and lies in a charming setting with stunning views of the Langdales. Beside this characterful cottage is a small orchard and a stone built shed suitable for storing bicycles. From the parking area, guests enter through the side door straight into a large slate floor kitchen. Beside the kitchen is the main living area with cosy log burner and views into the established and well maintained garden and across Langdale. There is a separate dining room with very old oak panelling and large dining table. The downstairs bathroom has both a shower and bath to soak away a day’s walking in the lakes. Stairs lead up to the first floor with three simple bedrooms with old oak floorboards and a family bathroom. This intriguing property has been sympathetically updated with modern conveniences but still retains much of its historical character, such as stone flag floors and polished floorboards. Floors and stairs are a little uneven and, as a traditional stone cottage, it can take a little while to heat up. The setting is magical and arguably one of the best locations in Langdale with spectacular views of the Pikes. The garden slopes downwards from the front terrace and is a real sun-trap that makes it the perfect place to sit outside from mid morning onwards and enjoy the views. Being able to watch the sunrise from the property is well worth the effort of an early rise. Please note there are two streams within the boundary of the cottage so please ensure children are supervised at all times. There is parking for 2 – 3 cars and outside storage for bicycles. Two dogs are permitted subject to an additional charge
