The staff was incredibly accommodating and we loved being back (this is our 3rd visit in the last 5 years). They maintain the cabañas really well and they are comfortable despite being rustic.

The property is a perfect location away from the parties but close enough for convenience. The private beach is worth it alone. Room 9, 15, 14, 13 have the best views. The staff is 24/7 and very helpful. The rooms are modest but also very roomy and comfortable each with a view (although some are obstructed). Having a bar & restaurant on property was also welcomed when I only wanted to relax.

The view & location wee great. The property was absolutely falling apart. To point that it was dangerous. We were electrocuted by the light switches. Part of the concrete balcony fell down the cliff. This place is not safe.

Very different according to what day of the week you go.
Very different according to what day of the week you go.
At weekends and holidays it gets very busy indeed with nudists and gays, who can be very overt with flaunting themselves, plus partying through the night until 4am making a lot of noise.
The rest of the time it is a beautiful place with nice sea and restaurants along the beach and very nice people

Beach is beautiful.
Beach is beautiful. Water is good for swimming, however there were some occasions when there was sewage sludge in the water. Nudist beach which was interesting. Can be too much with exhibitionism especially at either end and can be very noisy late afternoon to 4am.

Zipolite is beautiful and interesting.
Zipolite is beautiful and interesting. My husband and I like to walk and/or swim a lot on our holidays. We were disappointed that we could not swim in the ocean and walking was risky on the narrow 2-lane highway running through town, particularly since there were few sidewalks. The grocery stores were reasonably priced and Roca Blanca was a delightful little oasis of small shops, artisans and restaurants.

This is an end of the road old hippy beach town with no corporate presence. No big hotels or chain anything. Frankly it is kind of a dump and has no history, not even a fishing village claim. The beach and ocean are beautiful, but the entire coastline here is not suitable for swimming or even dunking. Very hot and humid even during my stay in early Dec 2023. Lots of massage, yoga, and alternative lifestyle things going on here. Lots of restaurants, bars and coffee places. Easy to just walk around the village. Just outside the village and up the hill are some better hotels with pools but high prices also, 200usd. If you want typical resort life you will be happier in Puerto Escondido area.

Best beach in the area. Not a lot to do .
Best beach in the area. Not a lot to do . The food at a few restaurants are way above average. Two amazing ice cream shops. And two different bank machines for cash withdraws. Smoke is easy to find and casual.
it’s away from the “central” parts of Zipolite. a 10-15 min walk to the beginning of the beach. personally I liked to be away from the “hot spot”, but bare in mind that you either need to enjoy walking or have a moto to move around easily since you need two different collectivos to go towards Mazunte and Pochutla
I stayed in the tipi house, which basically only fits a very comfortable bed - so you’ll sleep good to the sound of the dogs and birds
the kitchen is big, and got sharp knifes but had a lot of flies and mosquitos
The owner and staff were very friendly. The setup of the hotel was excellent for meeting and getting to know other guests. The pool was the perfect place to cool off in the heat of the day. The AC in my room was excellent. I also really liked the house rules especially the no noise after 10 PM rule. It assured I got a good sleep. Everything good in Zipolite was an easy walk away from this hotel. I couldn't have been more pleased.
The hotel was pretty good for its price. The room was somewhat small, but it had a great terrace which compensated for everything else. There was a small fridge, a coffee maker, a hammock and a couple of chairs with a table, so I had everything I needed. The hotel is a little bit far from the center of the village - like 1mile walk. The beach is less than half a mile away and the nearest grocery store was about a quarter mile away.
The Location was awesome!! In front was the beach and in back was the main street with plenty of restaurants , bars and stores just a hop, skip and jump away!! The Owner Daniel was right there with many years of knowledge of the sites, sounds and taste of Zipolite!! Thank you Daniel and staff for making my first time in Zipolite feel like i had been there 5x or more!!! - Anthony Paul Jones
Beautiful large bungalows hidden in a lush garden, steps from the beach. The bungalows are nice & expansive. I was worried about the lack of AC, but it really wasn’t an issue for sleeping - there is a lot of natural ventilation through the wooden slats on the windows/doors & a powerful fan. Great porch area with a hammock for lounging.
Recommend their beach bar & the hotel massages!
Absolutely amazing host. She helped us from the moment of first contact with truly any of our travel needs. An oasis built with dedication by expats throughout the years. It has charming, relaxing ambience, it is clean on spot. Shop, local comedores right by, beach 50m to walk. Perfectly located on eastern tip of Zipolite beach next to Playa de Amor.
Stunningly beautiful location overlooking a small private beach and an easy walk into Zipolite town. Very comfortable rooms with excellent air conditioning and breakfast included. . Two small pools to relax in and great options for lunch and dinner at the sister hotel very close by. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful
I had a large, bright, comfortable room with everything I needed for my 1 week stay. The staff are friendly, helpful and quick to meet my requests. Marea Viva is situated only minutes from the beach and the centre of Zipolite and yet just out of the bustle of the main street. I highly recommend this guesthouse.
this place is like a treehouse and it’s amazing. beach life at its finest. great value and Corinna is friendly, talkative and wonderful. it doesn’t have the amenities of a resort, it’s authentically beach, so close to the ocean and playa amor and a small convenience store across the street is key.
We stayed in Room 9 which has the best view as the window looks right out onto the adjacent beach and the ocean. The hotel is central to everything in Zipolite. I particularly loved the hammock outside our door for lazing about with a book. The cleaning staff were very friendly and helpful.
The staff, from kitchen, to bar, to security, to front desk, was exceptionally caring and went out of their way to ensure our stay was memorable in every possible way. Being beach front in the middle of the Zipolite strip was convenient to all the activities and dinner choices.
A gorgeous and spectacular setting amidst the mangrove trees. Close to the beach and access to the main strip of restaurants in Zipolite. The staff were incredible, helpful and friendly. Truly a wonderful place to stay during your time in Zipolite.
The hotel was excellent. The pool has an amazing view. Paloma who was running the hotel was extremely helpful and gave us lots of helpful tips that made our stay in Zipolite much more enjoyable. Thanks for everything. We'll be back.
The location was beautiful but quite a hike to the beach for those not accustomed to walking. The hotel grounds are beautifully maintained and the fact that it has only 4 rooms makes it a tranquil getaway
Just great! Please refresh and modernize the restaurant menu a little and come up with something with a dangerous road to the hotel and it would be perfect! 11 from 10. Our best three days in Oaxaca!
It's comfortable no frills hotel 1 block from the beach. Unbelievably convenient. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It was very clean and everything worked.
