Lovely hotel in a great location - close to the action or near the canal for a walk. Spacious rooms, all open plan including from the bedroom into the bathroom area (so make sure you know who are sharing your room with well enough!) Very well lit room, and comfortable beds. The Air con actually works which is a major plus as most hotels air cons are terrible! Lovely communal areas. We didn't use the gym or sauna but we went to have a look and it looked good. Reception staff were really attentive and clearly well trained in their jobs.

The doors from the corridor into your room need a good slam to shut and lock - a few times we nearly left with it unlocked. And despite the soundproofing in the rooms you could hear everyone slamming their doors to make sure they were locked. A few more milks / tea / coffees each day would be a nice to have, although really appreciate the free mini bar with a nice selection of soft drinks.

The owners are very nice and keep a very clean and comfortable property. Breakfast is cooked to order and tea, coffee and fruit juices are available. The room was very nice and the whole place is decorated with paintings of local attractions. Tea, Coffee, Kettle were provided together with fresh towels, a nice sized shower.

I thought the whole checking in was very impersonal, you never got to speak to anyone . The room we had was very small and the en suit tiny . There was only one bath towel per person and no hand towels . Also very hot in the room so had to keep the window open all night . The security lock on the door to enter the building was quite hard to see in the dark too .

Service staff in the bar was not interested, we felt totally not welcome. Bar closed at 10 pm and really all the special drinks for this region in the card (whiskey as it is Scotland) were not available! Bar staff told that are only empty cartons on display and only show, we can only have one from Ireland :D ridicules!!! And this 3 nights in a row, no motivation to fill up stock - at least to what is in the card.

Our room was very noisy, the windows felt paper thin so from around 6am onwards we were disturbed with the street noise :( (i.e. lorries, bin men, general cars). I probably wouldn’t have chosen that particular room if I had known this prior to booking.

I arrived on the Saturday midday and had an early book in and was able to get my room earlier than expected that was very welcoming, we had a friends to meet and I needed to change clothes and took out the ironing board and iron and got my shorts out to iron, when I put the iron on my bright coloured shorts all black like plastic stained my clothes and on the front of the iron was all black so I called the reception to tell them and explained I had only limited clothes with me and this had happened and they said they would send up an iron to replace this and they couldn't do anything about the clothes, I waited for an hour or more for the iron and nobody arrived so I had to go out to the cleaning lady to show her what happened and could she change my iron and she did from another room, I mentioned to the reception on my way out what had happened and that I the customer had to fix the iron problem myself and he said he will mention it to the hotel manager and they would be intouch, I waited for the 2 days for someone to contact me and nobody did, so I mentioned it on my way out Monday and was told to email the hotel with pictures of what happened. I paid €830 for 2 days in this hotel and still had to pay £30 for breakfast and had limited clothes for my trip. Yes I did book the hotel and was aware of just the bed and room was what I paid for but still not compensated for my loss and hassle on my clothes, no toilet brush in the toilets either. I have stayed in alot of hotels in Liverpool and travel to Liverpool on business also and other hotels wouldn't have ignored this before the customer left the hotel.
