We had such a pleasant surprise walking into Lake View after a long few days on the Coast to Coast path. A fabulous central location in Grasmere, the house is actually tucked away from all the hustle and bustle of the village. We were able to stroll into the village for dinner and then down to the lake side to enjoy the evening sky before enjoying the most comfy bed of our trip. Fully welcoming to Loki our dog made for an even better experience. We loved the badger set on the property although we did not manage a sighting we certainly heard lots of snuffling!

They don’t serve breakfast so if you have an early start you just have to plan around this.

The check in service went smoothly and felt very secure. Inside the building and our bedroom was very modern and clean. Great communication with the owners. Breakfast was plentiful and a lovely touch with the croissants and pastries in personalised bags.

My parents had a couple of issues with the shower door and using the shower.

Breakfast was ok, location was down 2 flights of stairs which was not good for my partner who as asthma and does not do stairs. Staff did allow us to have breakfast up stairs in the bar area.

Lack of disable access, no lift to lower ground floor for breakfast. Bar was not open due to rolls of carpet stored there as well as the upper dinning area. Hotel was in the process of been fully refurbised i.e. rooms been painted and new carpets layed also bedroom furniture left in the corridors, strands of carpet all over even in the lift and rolls of carpets in the corridors. This was not very good with my partner having asthma who ended up in hospital when we got home. I have photographs but unable to upload them.

The manor is beautiful! The grounds are gorgeous! The bedroom was lovely and offered a pretty view of the dales.

The bathroom was very small. The Dining area was dark and squashed in a small room with no windows and felt a little too close to other people staying there. There is a lovely area where the dining room could be viewing the gardens that’s currently used to offer a reception area for a wedding which seems a waste for all other customers that would have made it perfect and I would have scored higher if that happened.

The cleanliness was lacking upon arrival: hair on the floor and sink, signs of insufficient cleaning. The hygiene products (soap, shampoo) were in such small quantities that it was impossible to get anything out when pressing the dispenser. There was only one outlet with USB/USB-C, and the rest were in the UK format. Before the trip, I emailed asking if there were European-style outlets or a converter available, but I never received a response.
