Positive section of review
I have stay at Wessex House a few times now. It has always been, clean and quiet. The bed is comfy as is the room. There is even a selection of bits for a breakfast, to see on your way in the morning. Wessex house is a short 10 minute walk to the centre of town for all its amenities. I will be back when work brings me to central Basingstoke.

Nothing that is within Wessex House control. The house faces on to a main road, which can be seen from street view etc. There is double glazing so the noise is minimal. I don't like traffic noise, but keep coming back so it's not a deal breaker for me.

Spacious, comfortable and spotless room and the bed was also very comfortable.. It is an old building with lots of character and a very welcoming feel. Breakfast had an amazing choice of items, both cooked and cold and the brown bread was delicious. The landlord was very friendly. I would go there again if in the area.

The only thing I can think of that was a minor detraction is the shower in the bath, which is hand-held with no glass or curtain to stop water going out of the bath area. If you like a proper bath, then you are in heaven in a lovely spacious bathroom.

Everything was amazing! Beautiful part of the Dales, great facilities, a really cosy setting and the feeling that you're alone with nature as you enjoy the deck, hot tub and big window (perfect for birdwatching). Lisa and Martin were very welcoming and have created a wonderful place.

The property is difficult to find and looks very unattractive from the outside and has a very steep staircase inside. These are things that probably can't be changed and, once we were past these things, everything else was really good and Kathryn was really helpful.

Location not that far out. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Food in the restaurant was good and breakfast was also good.Room very nice for what we needed and very clean. Onsite parking as well. No complaints at all

The location was excellent for city west end. The apartment had everything you could need for 4 people staying in the city - so very well equipped. Everything worked and the flat was quiet overnight with v comfortable beds.

There was a pond which wasn't mentioned which is a hazard to children. The kitchen floor was coming up. The second twin room was in the attic with barely any head space.

Nice place and location but trying to enjoy a weekend away bombarded with rules. Felt like you’re in prison. email night before £100 charge if any neighbour reports noise £100 charge if smoking in room or in building,(we don’t smoke.) Sign in kitchen telling us to put Rubbish in wheelie bin they have cctv watching the bin and if lid not down properly there will be a £100 fine. Leaving for family meal in early evening yet another email saying be out by 10:00am or we charge £15 per hour (we were leaving at 8:00am) Also told “Clean all your dishes and put heating controls back to original settings.” Tv in room but it only has Netflix so if you haven’t an account no good. This property is setup for residential rather than a holiday let. Deposit not released until 4 days later.
