Convenient layout of the rooms, harmonious and aesthetic interior. Cleanliness and comfort. Amazing welcome package with local refreshments from the hosts. We found everything we need and more. We would be happy to stay at Ghillie Cottage again if travelling this region. We found Cockermouth a pleasantly quiet and lovely town.

No problem for us, but steep spiral staircase should be taken into consideration for small kids or people with limited mobility.

It was furnished to a high standard in a perfect location for us. It catered well for us and our 2 children. Being 7yrs and 16m there was things to entertain both of them and the appropriate high chairs/cots. There was everything that we needed.

House was fabulous. We had 6 adults and a baby and there was plenty of room for us all. Lovely large garden and excellent location for exploring the Lake District.

Good location. Comfortable bed, communal kitchen was of a good spec.

The room and the commmunal bathroom were not clean, dirty limescale in the bathroom on the sink and shower, dirty edges to the carpets and the bed linen hadn't been ironed was grey in appearance and was very creased, the paintwork was heavily chipped and the curtains faded. I hadn't noticed when I booked, but there was no television or tea/coffee in the room, not even a water glass!

Tiny bathroom. Mouldy shower. Lacklustre reception. External entrance with limited lighting. Car park a fair walk back in the dark and rain to the external entrance to the room. Steep internal staircase to room.This has previously been shared with the managing company but Booking.com keeps nagging for a review.

The sofa bed is very uncomfortable. After the stay they didn't refund the deposit in the 30 days period or answer any of my messages (on booking, whatsapp or answer the phone). I had to contact booking to get my deposit back. Lots of "house rules" and "fine print" conditions ex: you must check out before 10 am and have to leave the key at a nearby store that, on Sunday, opens no earlier than 10 am, leaving the key at apartment would result in an extra charge
