These cabins were very clean, very well laid out, and in a beautiful setting! I organize student travel and brought a group to Highgarry Lodges. We wanted quiet and lovely, and that's what we got. The host met us at the cabins to hand over the keys and explain things like TV controls and shower pump--he was very helpful and cheerful. There were mini horses who came to the fence to say hello and this was definitely a hit with the students. Kitchen had most of what we needed, since we didn't stay long enough to cook. The bathroom was spacious, although we had some issue with water temperature. The rooms were small, but with storage options for our stuff. Beds were not the most comfortable, but weren't bad enough to keep us from sleeping, and the quietness of the area was enough to make up for it. We would definitely come back to Highgarry Lodges--I'd love to bring my husband and enjoy some peace and quiet to recover from student travel! :)

Meal options are very limited in the area, including grocery options. Everything, including the grocery in Fort Augustus, closed very early, which was unexpected. I think the nearby Invergarry Hotel would have accommodated us, but was too pricey for our student group--menu sounded delicious, though. For breakfast the next day, we found the Jaggy Thistle Stop, and breakfast was delicious and very affordable--we did not enjoy the dog that was allowed to beg at our tables while we were trying to eat, but the food was good and the host was friendly.

I organize student travel, and brought a group of 13 to Loch Chambers in April 2024. Parking at Loch Chambers, which is run like an AirBnB (there was no staff on site when we arrived), was tricky, and directions to get room keys were a little tricky, but we figured it out. Rooms were very clean and spacious, and beds were comfortable. Showers were hot and we had no issues with water temperature or pressure. Location was great, right above a cafe and gift shop, and in a very walkable part of Fort Augustus. Rooms were easily divided, with good group bed configuration, to allow for privacy between guy rooms and girl rooms. While we were told the wrong start time for breakfast at the cafe, the food was good and fast, and affordably priced. Gift shop was cute! We would definitely stay at Loch Chambers Caledonian Canal again!

Parking was a little tricky and getting keys was a little complicated, but we figured it out. We received info from the property that breakfast started at 10am, so changed our day plans to fit that expectation, but when we arrived downstairs at the cafe to eat, there was a sign on the door saying we could have come at 9am, which would have been helpful--we changed our tour time somewhere else because we thought breakfast wasn't available until 10am and there didn't seem to be other affordable breakfast options nearby. Regardless of this, we would not hesitate to book at Loch Chambers again.

The AC wasn’t great (granted we were there on one of the hottest days this year). The toilet door didn’t close properly. The property tried to charge me double, plus extras for breakfasts we pre-booked. (We paid £20 per head for breakfasts upfront during check in. Then to see a Scottish breakfast was £13.95) On checking out I was presented with a bill for £52. This was for breakfasts plus 1x soft drink that we did not have.

Luxury an overstatement. The 49 step, narrow three landing, small tread staircase was a challenge and not a good start. Furnishings and appliances ok, but hardly luxurious. Black mould in bathroom requires attention. Wifi pitiful.
