The only way to leave a review is to first make a booking. That's how we know our reviews come from real guests who have stayed at the property.
2
When guests stay at the property they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff are and more.

After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.

This was our second visit to this hotel as we stayed here last year. We like the location, close to theatre land etc and easy to get to other places of interest in the city. Last time we had a really nice superior room and for this visit we booked the same class of room. However, the room we were presented with was only suitable for single occupancy, the shower room was exceptionally small. there was only one small window looking out onto an internal courtyard with scaffold etc. We went to reception to check if we had been allocated the correct room and the member of staff dealing with our inquiry was excellent in sorting this for us, realising that the room was not of a standard that we had reserved, she showed us 2 alternatives which were far more suitable and we chose one of these, so a satisfactory outcome which we were happy with. The breakfast choice is extensive and really good.

Nothing at all, the room issue was sorted to our entire satisfaction.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Northrise Retreat, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and satisfaction. The luxurious accommodations, coupled with exceptional service, made my stay truly memorable. The hotel’s prime location made exploring the city a breeze, and I can’t wait to return to Northrise Retreat on my next visit. Highly recommended!

This is a pub with only two guest rooms, not a high end fancy hotel, which suited us perfectly. Relaxed environment, large, private room with its own entrance, The Royal Oak is right in the centre of Burford but still really quiet. The staff were all cheerful and attentive. Breakfast was exceptional and served in the residents’ bar by the guy who cooked it: he was great, efficient, friendly and an English breakfast master chef!

The decor is rather dated, but what can you expect at this price. It’s so much cheaper than all the other hotels we looked at in Burford. We loved it.

Room was comfortable and clean. Good size shower cubicle. Parking at time of visit was OK - local street parking could have been a possible inconvenience. On-line reception instructions OK as long as one had a smart phone ( I don't), electronic access worked.
Negative section of review
Room size "snug". More storage to hang up clothes and stack away bags needed. Upstairs occupant had heavy feet when moving about - not well insulated? Breakfast would have been relatively expensive and inconvenient at nearby premises. Instructions depended on access to a "smart phone". I needed a laptop and printer.

The accommodation was beautifully situated by the lake. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. The hot tub option was very tempting, unfortunately we caught a stormy day. But next time we will take the opportunity.

The staff were surly and unhelpful. The breakfast offered was worse than hospital food, the "toast" was anaemic, barely warmed and certainly not toast. If you didn't eat egg or anaemic ham, there was no choice. Certainly not worth the money charged. Will not visit again. Do not recommend
