Ann and Charles are lovely welcoming hosts at this great West Country pub. Very comfortable room, great food and drink, comfy sofas and an adorable pub dog. Location is right on the square in the middle of the village so perfect for looking round Montacute house, but also just 5 minutes from A303 to very convenient to explore the wider area by car.

We stayed in the garden suite and was great, comfy bed and the bathroom was massive with a spa bath to top it off. Nice touches with the bath lotions and potions too. The breakfast was lovely with fresh fruit and cereals and then the full English, set us up for the day! All in all a lovely place to stay, along with the beautiful gardens

Wonderfully decorated and comfortable rooms with great amenities. Toiletries, coffee, tea, and welcome snacks were provided. There are breakfast and dinner places within walking distance. Close to the walkway alongside the canal.

Location, staff are fabulous, beds are very comfy, spa is great, Jeremiah gave me the most fantastic treatment in the spa. All the staff are great and my husband always raves about the breakfast

Location a problem for non driver, long walk down hill on a very busy road into town, so steep uphill back,and no handy bus stop, road impossible to cross till you reached traffic lights in town. Breakfast attrractively served , good fruit, but would have liked a bread roll as well., to set me up for a long day. Curtains too thin to keep out light, so awake from 5 am though tired.

The room could have been cleaner - wasn’t sure surfaces in room had been “disinfected” before my stay all bathroom was fine. Could see marks on mattress undersheet although all beds linen was high quality and clean. Lack of choice of cereals for breakfast. Very importantly fire door on my corridor was wedged open always and therefore fire regulations where being breached, and the lead-in fire door to my corridor was obstructed from closing due to carpet pile. The hotel needs a “fire inspection” by the authorities.
