I have stayed here before and love the plain comfort of the place, a relaxing lounge and reading area with a lovely view of the river from the bar and restaurant. There are plenty of seating areas in the sheltered garden overlooking the river. The room was simple but had all the requirements which lots of other places lack- a large duvet, soft pillows, two bedside tables, good lighting and two comfortable chairs. The shower was spacious and with good water pressure. There was a reasonable choice of food at breakfast and the cooked food was hot.

Lovely location, excellent staff. Our room was very nice, a good size. Very happy with bathroom which had a bath and a free standing shower, generously supplied with ESPA toiletries

We found the one time we had an evening meal in the restaurant, the vegetables were unbelievably meagre. However, we did enjoy the breakfasts, particularly the pot of freshly made coffee with hot milk in the morning, a bonus as lately hotels seem to use machines for this purpose.

If you're driving you need to pay an exorbitant fee to park. This is charged by the Council and the hotel unfortunately has to pass it on

staff were not all helpful - refused me my room on the basis I arrived by bike even though I had communicated with them that I attended to do so. Ruined a good night - expected me to just leave on the street - at my risk and it was not their issue if it got stolen or damaged. Refused to not contact the manger when I asked - avoid at all costs
