The Royal Glen describes itself as "Regency elegance" and lives up to it. Although in many ways a posh hotel, it was not stuffy at all and all the staff were very friendly. Being able to write our journal in the grand upstairs drawing room, with its gilt-framed mirrors and antique furniture, was a treat. After a day's walking on the South West coast path, the small heated swimming pool was another treat. In other circumstances, we would also have enjoyed sitting in the gardens. It's well located for the coast path, at the start of Sidmouth, up a quiet street. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent (we especially liked the bubble and squeak) - and the B&B price was very good for the quality of stay and food.

No complaints from us!

The flat was right near the high street so I had easy access to places to eat and the railway station. The flat itself was spotlessly clean and to a high specification I arrived early and found the flat I was allocated was on the very top floor and there was no lift. I have a bad knee and found the stairs difficult but the owner kindly moved me to a flat on a lower floor without any fuss whatsoever. I would definitely stay there again.
Negative section of review
It is an older building so there is no lift which if I didn't have a knee problem and a very heavy bag to get up the stairs would have been fine. But that wasn't the case. The car parking was a bit difficult when I first arrived as people who weren't staying in the flats were using the carpark so made manoeuvring quite difficult.

Everything, perfectly placed to visit Fishguard, St David’s, Newport, Cardigan. Gorgeous and cosy cottage with beautiful beds and fantastic facilities. 7 adults and baby and a dog and we needed for nothing! Gorgeous little sun trap patio which we actually managed to enjoy with some beautiful April sun. We sat to the big table and shared every meal and then every night we lit the fire and shared company.

Had a lovely relaxing 4 day break here a few weeks ago. Arrived to a lovely afternoon tea which was a lovely touch. Fiona's hospitality was second to none. Nothing was too much trouble, we felt like we were staying with family or a close friend. We seemed to be staying in the middle of nowhere yet within 5 minutes we were in the centre of Alnwick. We are already looking forward to returning :o)

Nothing to dislike at all

A lovely, quiet location, perfectly placed for local exploring. The loft itself was excellent. The owner was very friendly and happy to provide suggestions of places to visit but considerate of our space. She served a very nice continental breakfast of warm croissants, toast, and fruit.

We loved it, absolutely nothing we didn't like. We definitely are considering booking again in the Autumn.

Walking distance to the centre and concert arena, breakfast, bed comfort, cleanliness, good IHG hotel if AC was working Sean at breakfast a great asset , made people laugh at breakfast with his wit and humour linking the buffet and connecting it to Take That songs!

AC not working, could not open window being on the 15th floor, room slightly cramped for 3

The room was large, modern and well maintained. The food was imaginative & way above average for a pub-based restaurant. The staff were friendly and effective

Breakfast was not ready at 6.30, running 10-15 mins late which is difficult when you are on a business trip. I asked for lemon tea- i was given a full lemon!!! Breakfast staff not very friendly.
