Beautiful, well-equipped and spacious apartment which acted as an ideal base for our trip to Scotland and the Northumberland coast. Lovely grounds and surrounding area - the walking routes via the rear of the castle are recommended. Great value for money.

The property was comfortable & clean. Beds very comfy. Room was good size for 4 (2 adults, 2 x 17 year old). It was well equipped with kitchen equipment etc.

The down side to our apartment were quite minor but would have me score higher in my ratings. There was only 2 mirrors, one in the bathroom & one in the hallway. A mirror in the bedroom near a plug socket would have been very helpful & the same kitchen/living room would have been really good. (As we were 4 females that needed a mirror each all around the same time. Also, the lighting in the bathroom & hallway wasn’t very bright, this we felt needed to be better, brighter. We also purchased breakfast on both of our 2 day stay, this was from 7-11 on the Sunday & 6:30-10 on the Monday. We were down for breakfast at 10:30 on Sunday, I asked the man sorting the breakfast out if he could give us more sausages & he said he couldn’t as by the time they would be cooked, breakfast would have stopped!! Also, we had to all for more bread for the toaster. We also wanted coffee, this was via a machine; the machine was making lots of noise & steaming, firstly he said it needed filling up with milk, secondly after it was filled with milk it was still steaming he said something about it needing to be serviced (we pointed a red warning symbol).. then he said it would to be left to do “it’s thing”, so we couldn’t use it. So we didn’t get any coffee.. Monday morning was a bit better, coffee machine was working & there’s was a better supply of food, we did have to ask for more cheese & bread (at which point he did check the time to see if it was still before 10am (it was!). I did mention this issue with Sunday breakfast when checked out. The lady on reception was lovely & immediately offered us all a drink & as we were checking out, said we could have anything, which I thought was a lovely offer to make up for Sunday morning, so this did help a lot towards how we felt about breakfast, as it wasn’t cheap at £17 per person.

Spotlessly clean, very comfortable and the drinks and breakfast was plentiful and well thought through. The fruit bowl was enormous!

I can't comment as they are scammers who demanded more money after I paid fully through booking.com and to upload a photo identification on a third party website, when I refused to do this as was unable to, I had no choice but to cancel which they refused to refund me the £600, they didn't even send me the key location because I couldn't give them what they wanted.

1. There's a spy cam in the hall, allegedly for checking on guests checking in/out and for keeping track of the cleaning staff. To me this is an absolute affront. Obviously I covered the cam to ensure our privacy. When we checked out I got lip from the owner that I had interfered with their "security" measures. Too bad... 2. The appartment is hemmed in between a motorway in the front and a very busy local road in the back, making it impossible to get a decent night sleep. 3. There is no diswasher, no coffee maker and the oven and the only oven dish were dirty.

The website said hairdryer in room, there was no hairdryer, I asked for one but did not get one. There was only paper cups in room and no spoon. The window would not stay open and I had to hold it up with a book. The view from the window was mind snd an old mattress. And very noisy in the morning when someone came to do something with those bins. Could not get a drink in the bar at 7.30 at Saturday night, nobody on bar and nobody in reception.
